Sorry Andy.... I haven't taken many photos to share as I have been way too busy to spend much time with it but here is one of the sleeping platform on top. When I get away from work for a bit, I will take it out and get a lot more photos then.

Been ‘sowing’ with the welder the sheet metal to the galley. Missing the last sheet to cover the fridge. The rest is all 2mm aluminum doors or drawers.
Been driving the troopy and it is sooo much fun to drive. It feels better them my 80 with the Terrain Tamer suspension. 400 miles on it since the build. It sounds very ‘manly’ with the FT and the H152 is great. In 5th gear at 70mph I’m at 2000 rpm.

Found the motivation to do some cleaning; Washed Wombat the Daihatsu Scat on Sunday, and then the BJ70 today (Long weekend).

I'd got a compressor the other day, so used that to blow all the dust out of the dashboard ducts, as the dashboard is all in pieces and get everything cleaned up properly.

Emptied almost all the back out, and made it so there is some organisation (i.e. the bits I need next are in a box) so that the 13BT can be moved from the trailer into the BJ70 - once I fit the water pump, flywheel and clutch...

Then pushed it back to it's corner where it will await further activity; now that the evenings are getting lighter here (clocks change + summer) so I can co-opt a mate who has been left home alone to help with bits and pieces.

Aim is to have it running for February 2026...

No photos, because crap...

Heading into fall here in Idaho. I went up to the ski hill yesterday to do some maintenance i.e. cut down brush (just like rust, brush never sleeps either) prior to the arrival of snow.

Can any kind HZJ77 fellow owner show me up close what these garnish trim pieces look like fully installed (up close please)?

I didn't pay much attention to these garnish trim pieces prior to the campteq install. Trying to decide if I want to sem interior paint them grey and reinstall them back or not. Would require cutting a hole in the fabric if I did so I am not too sure.

This help? Between LH side rear door windows and LH pop-out windows (mines a gullwing now).

@MistyGoat Planning on doing the same thing to my BJ74. The speaker pod/map pockets are super nice but $$$. My oem door panels are kinda cooked anyway so im just going to install the speakers like you did.

Question: i see you mounted yours a little rearward/middle of door compared to most that have them closer to the front. Do they sound pretty good in that spot? I was thinking about running them in that same spot since the door has a large cavity there and would not require any metal trimming.
Yeah that's exactly the reason I mounted them there, also because my power window relay is right where the speakers would have mounted up front.
They would for sure sound better more forward but they honestly still sound very good where they are - much better than they did when I only had 6x9s in the rear. Its no surround sound but added tons of volume, punchiness, and mids, sounds a lot more full now.
I mounted them direct to the ABS panels with a spacer from amazon to clear the window behind the speaker magnet

All three of my kids and I had a rare Friday off together… So we loaded up the 74 and went mountain biking.

Bribery with curried sausages and he's coming round after work this week to help work an action plan. Get that going, and we might even have the engine in and running by Christmas...

Short trip into the Ochoco NF with a few of the fellas. First time pulling the trailer since a regear. Dig it.

Traveling alone and about 20 miles from camp she started flickering dash lights under 2000ish rpms. Pulled over to check connections and everything is tight/clean. Alternator is OG so accepted that it may be on the way out. New batteries...Don't need the rig power at camp for anything. I'll be fine! Carry on.

Made it to camp... set-up my junk quick-like and began drinking. First trip with the new Eezi-Awn RTT. Recently replaced my 12(ish?) year old CVT tent with it. Definite upgrade.

IMG_3238.webp

Cold camp. Had snow flurries and big cold gusts. Abandoned the gin and sodas and made hot toddies between beers.

Five hour drive home. Left camp with 22.3 volts and pulled into the driveway at 15.3. Was getting xmas tree flickering lights at any rpm now. It's done, son!

Have had an aftermarket 60amp and bracket on the shelf for a year+. Swapped it out last night but, my batteries are still on the charger trying to recover today. Need to drive it to work Tuesday. The 73 is still topless and it's cold and rainy AF here.

May get the OEM unit rebuilt and swap it back in.

I didn't change any of the wiring. Does the 60A vs the stocker 30A(?) require an upgrade in wiring to the alt?

Awsome setup! whats the brand and size of awning on the rear roof rack? I'm looking for something like that but its hard to picture in my head what different sizes will look like.

Long time since I've last done anything with the old 73.
Last 3 day desert excursion was done with the 97 disco, as I needed more room for my family and equipment.

Yesterday I have struck gold and got a 1000 Lb granite table for free.
Brought it home, couldn't wait to show my wife the visionary coffee table, If I only make a new pedestal and some........alas...she told me it would never get into the house😪

EVER....

so, now I need to rethink this project
Anyway, it was nice to drive it again
Noticed a strong vibration from the front wheels, need to rebalance them and check again.
