I think the clouds and mountains are more interesting than the truck…. 😂😂

Yeah I’m guessing more fuel would help the spool. I don’t know the size/specs of the gturbo other than it’s a ct26 modded.
My Holset is smaller and just boosts like crazy and I’m basically stock. My boost is very quick and I don’t have to push it at all.

Turning the fuel is a quick easy test to see if that gets you going better

I too believe that the Gturbo is an embellished CT26 with a billet compressor that may have a couple more blades than the cast stock and slightly different geometry and lighter weight. I could be wrong but the thrust bearing may also be beefier or has better oil flow (according to an anecdotal source).

Do you know if your turbo is still factory balanced? I.e. you haven't pulled the core apart or anything like that.

This might be dumb but it's worth checking that you have no obstruction upstream or buggered filter.

Cheers!

Yeah I don’t know enough about gturbo. Others seem to like them and they seem to work well.

Are you asking me about my Holset? It was brand new he221w and is an excellent match for a 13bt/14bt or 3b. I haven’t felt too much urge to turn everything up.

No, I haven't pulled it apart, and I ran it with no filter and no filter cap to rule out the snorkel or a clogged filter obstructing air flow and there was no appreciable performance difference.

I can attest to the fact that adjusting the fuel screw is directly correlated with the EGT's. I tuned mine until I can only put it to 1200F and beyond if ambient outside temps are around 85F and above, and I hold the throttle pinned for a long time. I also saw a slight reduction in power when I got to this point, and my boost is now 1-2 PSI lower overall (still hit 17-18 PSI max).

For me, this was the sweet spot between performance and safety/longevity.... play, test, play, test until you are happy with the results.
same for me... maybe 1200 1225 tops.... unless its above 80f or so ambient then a bit more

Looking for some help with my 75 series. Done a power steering box and putting new one back in, having trouble getting the fitting back on. Leaking out of the fitting, will attach photos of what I mean. If anyone has experience help would be much appreciated, can’t get this back on without leaking.

Charles your photo is great - really reminds me of bikepacking in Florida - getting an early start after the wild hogs messed up our camp site. Miles and miles of hard packed sugar sand roads punctuated by little towns with great dive bars.
That’s just one of the miles and miles of dirt roads that run through the plantations down here. It’s easy to spend the better part of the day and never leave dirt. 😊

Is that a flared fitting? If so, you need to seat the flared tubing onto the fitting, then tighten the nut down to hold the tubing tight to the fitting. Sometimes you may need to loosen the clamps that hold the tubing to allow you to get the alignment needed at the fitting.

If it's leaking around the threads, use some Teflon tape or Teflon pipe-dope on the threads when you install the fitting into the steering gearbox.

Hey guys,

Picking up an 97' HZJ73 next weekend with manual tranny H55F, KO82 axle.

I have tried picking through the service guides available on this website for torque specs on the fill and drain bolts. I am hoping to change the tranny, t-case, both diffs, and engine oil as soon as I get truck home. The only values I could find were 43 ft/lb on the tranny fill/drain bolts. Im hoping one of you guys might have the other specs for the diffs, T-case, and drain bolt on the engine oil. Thanks in advance. Sorry I am a torque wrench weenie.

Sean

Transfer/trans - 27 ft.*lbf (37 N*m)

Diff - 36 ft-lbf

Engine drain - hand tight. (I guess same could be said for diff and transfer, but since there are torque specs for those, you can go by those).

Indirectly, finally unloaded the 13B-T from the trailer ready for new water pump, rear main seal and machined flywheel to go on

Tomorrow is start to clean it all up before it goes in (when the clutch and water pump arrive)

Do yourself a favor and upgrade that turbo. It will be so much more fun and “modern” feeling.
What did you upgrade yours to?

The challenge for me is I have nice stainless exhaust to go with it, and would prefer not to have to get that remade.

If you don’t want to change exhaust, then you are limited to a ct26 style.

So I would look at gturbo and Munro turbos, both are based out of Australia and have good Reviews.

Personally I was going to go with a custom Munro turbo before I switched up completely to a Holset. that would mean some custom work and exhaust.
