Windows both up and down. I love this rig.

I took the Troopy on a cross-country roadtrip along US-50. I almost made it home without a single repair but starting in Utah the damn thing started to sound like a helicopter underwater. I broke a section of exhaust pipe off on a washboard road, right at the flange under the driver's side door.

Today she got some new pipe at the exhaust shop.

We seemed to be running a bit hot on this drive too so next up I'm replacing the fan clutch.

I was killing time in Frisco Colorado; an accident closed interstate 70 and the Eisenhower Tunnel.
Saw a demo of an amazing 12V air compressor. Bigger than ARB twin but greater output and cheaper.

Installed a new soft top and the correct windshield frame on Matt’s old fj73 , have to pull the 1HZ from my crawler this week so I can get that in here also . This is going to be a very sweet ride !

Ok, search I shall. One day it would be great to swap to a soft top with the rear half doors.
From what I gathered the soft top parts are available new but stupid hard to locate and I believe probably around 5-6k including shipping the parts from different locations worldwide . Half doors have been nla for a long time now and a good nice pair brings a premium also .

Definitely not a economical thing to convert to .

Had a slight whining noise in 4th and 5th gear when accelerating so I drained the fresh oil I just put on the trans and tcase and low and behold the t case fluid came out with metal shavings so I started investigating……. Was doing 80 mph with this on the freeway , if this would have been anything else then a cruiser it for would have been a return trip on a triple A flatbed .

Yeah that's what I've heard too. More of a "would be nice" on the doors. The soft top would be the priority, but not anytime soon for me.

To me the removable top doors are always the first upgrade because a topless 70 with full rear doors just looks silly , kinda like a dodge truck without a trailer but still proudly showing those tow mirrors while looking like Dumbo 🤣

Nice! The idea of having a 1HD-FT in a 73 sounds amazing. I would need a lot of pre-requisites to get something like that done. I hope one day to have a proper lift like some of you so I could do some more advanced work on mine like that.

Who makes the rear bumper?

In the photo it looks like it doesnt follow the lines of the body as it wraps around and extends forward towards the wheel well

Is that just a photo issue or is it made that way?
It angles upward on the sides, made that way.
