I put a new fuel filter in and added the factory pre filter. Ive had the pre filter sitting there for 3 years so I thought its about time. It was a bargain, I got the bracket, prefilter head and a new filter for $20. Note the extra length of the Toyota filter over the Ryco Z332. I don't think the filter inside was bigger, it just had a larger chamber for the water to collect in.
I don't normally buy OEM filters but I got 3-4 with the troopy.
I didnt fill the filters with diesel. I just pumped it through with the primer, started the engine and kept pumping. It ran rough for 5 minutes then come good.

Installed a chunk of card board in front of the radiator...the temp gauge needle doesn't move off of Cold. It blows luke-warm air. I don't remember which t-stat I put in it, but the t-stat is new. It was 15 deg. F this morning. Started up just fine.

I don't have any problem getting my heater to full output and temp gage to 1/3 within 3 minutes of home, in McCall no less. 6F this morning. I wonder what's different?

Although it was not necessary in Southern Georgia, my BJ71 had a retractable cover (similar to a window shade) that when pulled down covered the bulk of the radiator. I always assumed it was factory.

. I always assumed it was factory.

Yes ,it was. I think 40 and 60 series had it as well. It was only available in certain markets.

My BJ71 was JDM by way of Canada. The curtain was made from sturdy material and neatly tucked away when not in use.

Huh. I think I saw something like that in the back of the BJ60 that came with my 14BT, the back of it was full of parts from the abandon conversion. I just thought it was an old window shade...I think I chucked it.

My previously owned BJ71 is still in town. I'll try to get a photo of the curtain.

I've got an HDJ81 with a radiator curtain. It was part of the "cold weather package" apparently. I will grab a photo when I get home today if you want.

I would think so. BTW, be careful with cardboard using clutch fans. Can cause them to pull unevenly and will
damage the bearings in the clutch, and possibly the bearings in the water pump. I used to cut a circle in the cardboard right in the center
of the clutch so the draw is even across the center of the clutch. Now in my diesel I use canvas like the factory
curtain, and then with really cold I add another to outside of grill.

Thanks for the heads up. Found the assembly and part number on Megazip.

Found the one in the back of the BJ60. Probably too wide for the 75 though.
