Figured id throw my fresh head on my old block.
Salted roads means its going to be parked a while anyway.
I suffer horribly from mission creep.
Going to replace motor mounts, clutch kit and re seal the oe trans and transfer that came with the 75. Current drive train is from a 77 no differences between the two other than the early 75 transfer having the lower low range(not that it matters in my case).

Not to add further mission creep but...While the transfer case is apart, you might want to tear it down and check your idler gear races. Maybe it's just me, but I've had terrible luck finding wear on the (machined) races in the idler gear. I've spoken to a couple of guys who replace the idler shaft and bearings everytime the case is out of the truck as a precaution since this seems to be a pretty common point of failure.

I'm ashamed to admit I'm on my third transfer case now in 5 years and the truck has never been off-road since I've owned it (and it has only been driven about 1000mi)! Granted, I bought it with a grenaded transfer case, but it's idler gear was in bad shape as well. The used unit I put in whined badly due to bad idler gear races. Since those races can't be replaced, I'm now on my third case.

On the flip side, if it isn't giving you issues, ignorance is bliss ;)

Designing this!

i'm banking on it being in decent shape.
the last time it was driven, was in '87. the cruiser was in the process of being setup for a v8 when i bought it, but don't think it ever saw v8 power. the plan is open and inspect for any obvious issues with gears.

Ha! The lift is a design consideration but realistically won't happen for quite awhile.

Step 1: build the shell of the garage, allow wife to park in garage when it snows
Step 2: build out the 400sf second story office/guest room/bathroom
Step 3: renovate kitchen
Step 4: win lottery and buy lift

What's the allowable square footage for detached garage in your town. Its only 750sqf where i live in CT. And nothing over 20' high in residential area. So no space for lift if i want a loft.

@plfj40 What are the dimensions on your garage? I can only fit a 18'x24' in my yard. Just wondering what the size looks like with a cruiser in it.

1,000sf max footprint. 25' max building height. I'll be maxing out both!

Its 22x34 which makes it 748sqft

Did new window belt runs and finished up the battery this weekend.

Boy I've seen that view quite a few times over the years!!!!!!!

because doing this 5 years ago before the body was on the frame didn't make sense at all...

Washed cars. Figure it’s goingto be a while until we have another 50 degree day. Truck looks so much better.

Common sense called off today... i went in anyway.
Solo trans install

Got be tough if you're going to be stupid.
