Nothing like the thrill of driving along and hitting your brakes and you keep going. Well it looks my bladder went out in my booster, no power brakes and the definate sound of air in the cab when i hit my pedal. Do they still make the bladder for the booster? or do I need to scrounge another whole booster up?

I didn't have much luck finding parts a year ago. I ended up sending it to Booster Dewey. He did an excellent job & had it back in a week. If you do a search you'll find how to get a hold of him.

Good luck

When I was looking at replacing my booster, everything I read said that there were no more rebuild kits avaliable for the boosters. I ended up swapping in a booster and master cylinder from a 91 4-Runner. Trim up the push rod that connects to the brake pedal arm about 1/2" and your golden. HTH.

ya , but I just put on a new master cyl. a little while back and hate to think of money wasted. What year models will fit my 79?

I wouldn't be surprised if your master cylinder will bolt right up to the 4 Runner booster, but I can't back that up. It seems like a lot of the Toyota parts are somewhat interchangeable.

OOPS

This is what happened to me when my bladder went out. Thanks to the roll cage and my uncanny ability to leave a huge A** pucker mark on the drivers seat I stayed inside the vehicle. I had a 3" harness system but wasn't wearing it. I was towing an inflatable boat and had 8 scuba cylinders in the back. The road was a real mess of dive gear.

Holy **** man. How'd you end up upside down and backwards?

It's one of those things where you hit the brakes and you got little to nothing. I had a 90* turn with a cliff on one side and the rock wall on the other. I decided that with a little luck i could make the turn if I used both lanes. As luck would have it, after moving into the other lane I could see a row of cars coming. My choice was over the cliff of crank the wheel as hard as I could to the right. That flipped me and sent me into a spin on my top. But I missed the on coming cars!
