does anyone know if a 1000lb engine stand is ok or should i get a 2000 lb?

I would not use a 1000lb stand... think I have a 1500Lb and it works fine...

thanks. do you happen to know what the weight is on a 2f?
I think the weight is around 800 lbs... probem is they are so long... and the weight is not so compact like in a V6

i see. thank you for the insight. i'm off to pick up engine, stand, and tranny.
Get one with a "U" shape to the legs, the "T" shaped ones make handling a F/2F a little scarey

yea... I agree............ I got the U shaped kind based on Ed's Rec. and am happy with it....
Have fun bolting it up to the stand.
Ed you running all your stuff with one belt or two?
easy if you take the top off the stand then bolt it to that first... then just lift the stand up to the top.... lower down and the only thing you got to worry about is the stand not hitting the cherry picker... worked for me...
btw thats another Ed trick...

With out modifying the arms, I have only seen one 2F bolted to an engine stand using all 4 bolts. An that was Bulington's picture. Three bolts is not a problem but that 4th one is not going to happen without some mod work. I have three engine stands and three different brands. LOL!
I had no problem getting all four on mine.....

It's possible. Took me 15 min to figure it out but I did it. 4 bolts. You don't use the arms on two of them. I think it's the top two. You just use the arms as big spacers.
But my head hurt from thinking so hard.

all 4 of mine worked... bought it at auto zone..... no thinking required...

On my 1500lb HF one the arms were crazy long and there was no way it was going to work. I bought a 1200lb one at Kragen'Auto Zone and it worked if I mixed and matched the arms from the HF one.

That is exactly what mine looks like. Got all 4 holes lined up. My stand makes me nervous though so I am thinking of getting a U shaped one.
Coolerman.. does your stand seem sturdy enough? Mine seems to sag a bit at the spindle. I have my engine hoist in the same position as yours helping to support some of the weight of the engine.

I was very nervous around it for the first two weeks it was on the stand, but after I realized it was not going to fall off I stopped worrying about it.
It has been 5 months now and it's STILL on the stand. I have moved the dang thing all over my 1 car garage and it has been pretty stable.
Yes it does sag a wee bit but not enough to worry about. I would recommend this stand to anyone.

Tried mine the way it's pictured above. It would not work. Could only get 3 bolts in. Has to be something with it being so cheap.
