Kevin - I'm looking at possibly getting your weatherstrip kit for my doors. Mine are new'ish (PO installed 2-3 yrs ago), but wondering if yours would be better to seal out wind noise.

On your site the pics are great, but a bit small - can you post more pics in high res here? Or can you make pics clickable to see larger on your site?

loving the new forum for your gear!

This is another good thread, lots of questions on that stuff.

So the biggest thing on the 60s is that this is a new seal in a new place, there is not a seal on the door frame of the 60s, the 62s got one, but only on the front two doors, not for the back two, and they tend to be pretty worn out by this point for the used ones.
They are still available new and are quite nice, but this stuff has a thicker, heavier welt rubber and is cheaper.
The nice thing about the 62 seals is that the welt is custom formed and shaped to go around the corners, my stuff doesn't go around the tight B pillar corners as well.

The hatch seal set replaces the seal around the hatch opening and the back edge of the headliner, but also adds a new seal to the top of the tailgate that is just the bees-knees. More than anything else I've done that seal has virtually put an end to all cabin dust intrusion (and it feels all cushy and nice on my hand when I close the gate :princess:).

The door seals are for wind noise, the hatch seals fix the classic lift gate rattle and keep dust out.

So Rob, you've got a 60 right? You don't have a seal where these sit, if you have wind noise these might help you out.

And sorry about the web site, I haven't figured out a good way to make the pictures clickable, would like to do that for all of them.
I'll get the originals and put some bigger ones in here.

Pics of weatherstrip

So this is the original Weatherstrip Thread

On page 3 there are some bigger/better pictures of the hatch seals.

And there are some pictures on the door seals halfway down the first page here.

I need to find the actual images still so I can post them up here.

Kevin - thanks. those links helped.

Reposting your pics to consolidate and clarify.

2 - the headliner welt replaced with another seal - better sealing where a lot of folks get leaks/dust coming in!

I hadn't planned on doing the rear hatch seals, but those look really nice. Do you include that strip along the top of the lower gate in the "kit"?

For the doors (what i'm really interested in) - I think i finally get where this strip is going (replacing the pinch welting that holds headliner on), but don't see any pics with the door open to see how the double seals line up, or their spacing. That make sense? Can you show a pic of the door open with the two seals and their relative positions? Do they overlap or are they two seperate seals?

Thought re-posting your original pics may help with others as they find your forum and want more consolidated info on these.

Any ETA on the door weatherstrip, currently shows as out of stock on your site?

Thanks for posting those pics Rob.
I had a bunch of pictures of the door seals on my site, but for some reason that page disappeared, just turned blank and all the pictures are gone. I rebuilt it, but only had a couple images. I have the originals, just need to find what cd they are on.
More pics will make much more sense.

There are 3 pieces that come for the hatch, the outer trim, the extra piece for the top of the tailgate and then a new piece of edge trim for the back of the headliner.

And I can't afford another roll of door seals right now!!!
It is really expensive and I don't have enough to cover it this month. Just brought in another roll, but that is already gone.

Kevin - no problem.

Thanks for clarifying the tailgate "extras". I figured you'd include the top of the lower tailgate, but wasn't sure you would also include the top headliner piece. How do you like it now that it's been on a while? when you first installed it it seems like it wasn't quite right. Still sealing well and did it break in better? Edges ok, or still wavy?

As for door seals - i'm happy to pre-pay and wait. I understand finances (especially at the beginning of the month when rent/mortgage is due!). No hurries here - when you get everything in just send one box and save some $ on shipping. Others may be willing to pre-pay as well. I'm willing to accept more pictures in exchange for waiting!

In fact that may be a good update on your site. Give the link w/ prepay option and your current ETA? I think most of us trust you enough to prepay and get it when it comes in.:hhmm:

No pre-paying allowed, for anything! :p
It makes it a lot harder on me since I have to keep track of it all, plus it goes against my business rules. ;p
Drop me an email and I will let you know when I get more in.

On the hatch seals, they seem to work great, I think I mentioned above that they have done more than anything to prevent dust in the cabin.

I can vouch for the quality of the weatherstripping. Like Rob's mine was installed in conjunction with 2-3 y/o factory stuff, and still made a big difference. Nice solid *THUMP* when closing the doors and it does an excellent job of keeping road noise out. I have yet to order a set for the aft gates, but I'm waiting until I have the lift gate redone (needs some serious rust repair now) before I get some.

Don't have enough in the account for an order yet. I slowed down the flow a bit by sending a first batch of frames to the powder coater, need to get those back and assembled to fill the coffers a bit.
At this point I will wait until the beginning of next month to get it on that billing period.

I'll take a set of door seals

Kevin,
I'll take a set of door seals also. Please post when you want orders. Thanks.

Please let me know when the rear hatch seals are available. The rattles in mine need some attention. Thank you.

Hi Kevin,
PayPaled the $$ just now! I am somewhat 'challenged' so if you could include a few instructions (adhesives needed etc) it would be the best!
Thanks

Nobody on this yet? C'mon guys, help me out here! :p
Sorry about the delay, been swamped here, got your seals all boxed up and on their way.

Anyway, the install on these can range from a drop in, to hours of headache, especially with the rear hatch.
If all your latches and catches are free and adjustable (as in not rusted to oblivion) you will be able to get everything to work without too much trouble though.

For the doors, they tend to be pretty easy, you pull the edge trim off the door opening, remove the plastic sill plate, put the new stuff in place and re-install the sills.

When you install the new seals, try not to hammer them into place.
You don't need any adhesives or glue, the seals have little metal "U's" in them that grip the edge, if you hammer them in the "U" gets bent and does not grip the edge as tight.

Then once they are installed, keep in mind is that everything will be too tight at first.

The seals will seat in and take shape, so at first they will seem too tight, like you have to slam the doors, but that will loosen up shortly.

The hatch can be more complicated since there are two doors that have to mesh with each other.
The seals being too tight can have a big effect here, one thing to consider is installing the outer seal, letting that seat in for a week, and then come back and install the tailgate lip seal so you are not trying to adjust for everything all at once.
The tailgate lip is putting a seal where there never was one, so you can't trust the factory adjustments.
You can't trust the factory adjustments in general though since you don't know what has been done to them since they left the factory.
This makes the whole install a bit more of an art than a science. Just go slow and look carefully, basically everything that has a bolt on it is an adjustment, you will find that all the holes are slotted or oversized to allow for adjustment, the trick is to find what, if anything, needs the adjustment.

I suppose the last note on the hatch would be that the lift gate latch engages in two stages, there is a first catch that will hold the door in place, and then there is a second catch that compresses the gate in, before installing the new seals, familiarize yourself with the function, open the hatch and close it slowly to feel each of the engage points and then make sure you have them both after install as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and as always, if you run into any problems.

As my set of seals and "all the bells and whistles" tailgate lid should be here in two days and my cruiser should be out of the shop from my frame swap in less than a week, I just wanted to let you know what I have planned.

I've heard some chatter through various threads about how much of a difference to interior noise your door seals can make and my next series of projects on my truck are going to be adding some sound proofing, starting with these seals. My father-in-law builds professional sound equipment and has lent me his $1,200 decibel meter to get some sound readings from my truck. First will be stock and then I'll put in your seals, Kevin, and take another reading so should have some solid numbers on how much of a difference they really can make.
