Not that I have a lot to add to this thread other than getting it started... Kevin Rowland did a great door WS upgrade on his 60. Now to source more of it at a good price for mudders.

Thoughts?

Hey... I started a new thread for this... knock it off Kevin!

As per Marks request, (and my own earlier statement:flipoff2:) my response moved over from the ROTW thread.
Now now, I like weatherstrip just fine.

I'm bummed that Marks stuff didn't work out, I was hoping for a cheap source.
Let me look into the TrimLoc I bought, maybe I can get a better rate for a larger roll.
I need to make sure I can cover my but with this stuff before I order another roll, although there certainly seems to be enough interest.
It sucks a bit though since shipping the roll to my shop, then covering the shipping to everybody (flat rate USPS seems best) then making sure I can cover the paypal fees for all the payments.......you get the picture, every step ads more cost to the little rubber strips.
I am pretty sure I lost money on the last of that stuff I distributed, but that was fine since I needed to spend the cash to get it myself.
When I am back in the office tomorrow I will look into it closely, I will also start a new thread.

Mark looked into getting us the weatherstrip cheaper through a friend, but no luck on that front.
If everyone that got the remainders from my roll is happy with the fit, then I would be wiling to order more, the quality is top notch, but it is pricey.
I do still need to go over the #s tomorrow to make sure I don't get burned though.

I have some great factory weather stripping from a 60 and a 62.
This mimics the OE 62 weatherstrip, the 60s did not have the bulb welt on the inner edge trim like the 62, and the 62s did not even have the bulb welt on the two back doors. The OE welt is very low profile and compresses too easily, I hated the wind whistling in my ear even after I upgraded to the 62 front weatherstrip, so I had a roll of custom weatherstrip made with a larger/stiffer bulb.
Some pictures here, and on the first page of my ROTW.

Very interested as well.

I'd definitely be interested - does it fit the tail gate, too?

I replaced all the door seals on my '83 years ago with OEM and was very satisfied. Now that I'm DDing my '84 I'm looking at cutting down noise everywhere (just got Damplifier Pro for the 56 F100 & will see how that goes).

Are you guys having problems with the weatherstrip around the rear hatch and tailgate? Or are you just interested in something new?
If there are problems, what specifically are they? Water? dust? noise? I've had good luck with the OE stuff back there.

i'm interested in weatherstriping too. let me know when i can put in an order for the entire truck

Put me in line for the weather stripping for all four doors.

Cheers,

Kevin

Im interested on weather stripping for all 4 doors eh !!

Thank you,

Manu

Ok, looks like I will be ordering another roll, even a few hundred feet of it will get chewed up fast when each truck takes over 40'.
Let me add all the shipping #s and paypal fees together and see what I can get a larger roll for so I can make a definitive $# for everybody.
In order to keep it simple for myself I'll offer it as a product, not as a group buy. I will figure out how you can enter your own shipping information online and just sell it as you want it.
All that is new to me, so it will take a little while to figure it out, but I will get an order in on Monday though since they have a min of a two week lead time for this kind of thing.

Before installing this weatherstripping from Kevin, I didn't think the 62 could be so quiet on the hiway. You may have to readjust your door a little to take maximum advantage of the improvement but worth the effort and expense, IMO.

Sweet! I can't wait. I know that I said that I was interested above but just to be specific I'm interested in all four doors. Thanks!

Kevin,

I'm interested in this upgrade as well, but be sure not to short change yourself. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to cover your time and effort since you're doing all the leg work, and I doubt anyone else would either. my $0.02

Besides, with all the great ideas you turn into reality, and then offer up to the rest of us, we want to keep you very, very happy. :D

Thanks Ben,
It is not like I am making the stuff, and while cutting it, labeling it, boxing it, and running it to the post office takes up time, it is not too much and most of it I can accomplish while doing other things.
TrimLok has retail kits and resale options, I always ignored them in the past since I just needed rolls of stuff for work, but I will check what they can offer us, and look at the #s carefully.

I'm interested because my old one is worn out, and needs replacement. If you come up with something better, why not replace it with something better than stock? ;p
