You really like testing things, don't you....... :p

I see you've even pictured your top of the line plastic tester in your avatar.

I do, you'd think I'd be an engineer or something...really though I'm just a social worker

You may have to market that plastic in squares to Petsmart one of these days...

After having had the weatherstrip installed for (I think) about 6 months now, it's starting to flatten out considerably and harden in the cold weather (it's 8 degrees where I'm at right now). Is this something that can easily be corrected once it can be warmed up? I've noticed the driver's door is the worst off, I would expect from the door repeatedly being slammed against the weatherstrip and banging it out flat.

8 months , and are they whistling or otherwise leaking? Or just flattened out?

The seals should flatten out and take the impression of the door frame as part of seating in,
This is why I suggest avoiding any adjustment to the doors if possible since the seals will take the shape they need after awhile. They shouldn't be letting the air by though.

Nope, no whistling or any other noise. Still works great. I just don't have the satisfying *thwop* sound of new weatherstripping when I close the door anymore :D

weatherstrip installation

i ordered kevin's weatherstripping last week and installed them over the weekend. unlike every other repair or modification i've ever made to a vehicle i own, this one went off without a hitch. the old seals pulled right off, and kevin's new ones went right on. the entire process took about 15-20 minutes.

as far as effectiveness goes, it was $95 very well spent. this is my daily driver, so i've been looking for ways to make it a more pleasant driver. i did mark's quiet***p and koby's suggest mcmaster-carr acoustical foam dampener, and that made the car WAY better. adding kevin's door seals sealed the deal, so to speak.

the only modification that i had to make to kevin's design was where the new seal and welt slid under the trim on the rocker panel. i had to slice the welt away from the seal just a tad to let the trim sit back down flush with the sheet metal.

here are some pics of the install, since i know that kevin had some trouble with his own photos a while back. there are before pics and after pics of the front and back doors.
