I’ve returned to the fold. I have a terrible attention span and when my password didn’t work once I forgot about it for a couple years…
Anyway the Pig is still undergoing rust repair but I’m in forward planning mode. With this big a project I want to do it up. I’m interested in an FJ-80 chassis and suspension. I don’t need a CJ5 ride quality anymore…
I’ll get on the forums but looking for quick confirmation that the 80 in the pic is a good donor. Also, opinions of doing it are welcome. 😱

As long as the frame isn't rotted out, any 80 will do. The early ones don't have full float rears, but this one does. It's been done plenty of times now and I think the most recent is @gonzopancho and his build Puaa-Tuah where the swap is shown starting here Post #62

A bit more detail in @xtiaan2000 thread here 80 frame cuts

What's your plan on the drivetrain? I think if I was doing an 80 chassis swap I would want an 80 drivetrain with the 1FZ-FE.

Welcome back!
Lots of LS powered 80 frame builds too…depending on wants/needs.

Yes there are lots of power train options. I guess I didn't articulate my intended point very well. If you want an 80 chassis and an 80 drivetrain, then I would probably look for a '96 or '97 donor with both a good frame and a good drivetrain. Assuming you are going a different route on the drivetrain then, as others have said, looks fine as long as the frame is straight and solid. I would certainly check that front end really well. Looks like it might have been used in a demolition derby at one time.

@TachedOutOffRoad is selling his 80 frame 2uz build, and I could be interested in the body from it (or yours) to finish the original Pua’a (SOA on 60 axles)

@nuclearlemon is selling the Pickle and 80 frame with axles/engine For Sale - southeast wyoming - new fj55 w/s, rollbar, front and back seats - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/southeast-wyoming-new-fj55-w-s-rollbar-front-and-back-seats.1342112/page-2#post-15763456

Ya the guy claims no frame damage. I claim I still have brown hair…. So we shall see. 😂

Yes, there have been a few 80 frame swaps now...
Plenty of good info out there.
I think @Cruisers and Co said they removed 5.5" from the frame for the @gonzopancho 55/80.
