Not sure about where it would enter - from the crankcase maybe?

Prevention is easy - hook up the factory vacuum lines as they are intended!

There is an air filter in the cab that is inlet air to the dizzy cap and there is a vac port on the air cleaner that will draw air through.

Good Luck!

A DUI dizzy is far from water proof. The 78 dizzy has the o-ring sealed and vented cap. As was mentioned you can also get the condom for it which helps with splashed water.

Once you get the vac lines connected, your problem will go away. Water (and other) vapors from the crank case are pulled out of the dizzy by the air filter vac line, allowing fresh air in through the filter under the dash. This eliminates the condensation.

Help me understand how this air system to the distibuter keeps water out? Im confused?

Thanks,

The water that this user is likely talking about is condensation, and not an external source. Circulating the air in the distributor cap will prevent this condensation from creating corrosion inside the distributor cap and distributor body. Toyota had it vented from the factory for a reason. ;)

This shows the hose coming from the air cleaner housing in the top center of the picture.

Do you have the Cap O-Ring installed?. Item 55 in the SOR catalog page 022. Without it you will get water intruison. The rubber boot was not needed on a '78 because of the O-Ring and the vacuum line to the air cleaner.

O-Ring
