Hi Guys and Girls,
Have any of you changed out the water pump on a 100 series?
How many hours does the average nit wit like me need to do it in?
Thanks.

Hmm not to sure anymore, but i will keep on stripping down ....
Thanks.

Water Pump is center top.

You are not going to see your Water Pump until you get to this stage (if you plan to do timing belt and pulleys too):

That is why we are recommending you inspect everything if doing a water pump. Water pump replacement is 2/3rds the way (or more) to doing a TB change.

at this point, I think you should stop and figure out what you are doing.
a FSM would help alot.
did you just order a water pump?

Thanks for the fantastic help, I'm on a massive learning curve!
The air-conditioning is a real pig to get at!
Finally got to see the water pump, the round front part is blue in one spot.
When i turned the engine by hand the pump slid more than turn, hence the erratic temperature.

Nah, AC is easy. Front top bolt from the top. Front bottom bolt from the ground, front wheels turned all the way to the left, flashlight in your left hand, 14mm socket, 2 short wobble extensions, one 12" extension and ratchet in your right hand. Rear bolt - no need to touch.

OP aah hopefully you are doing the full timing belt with this.... why go through all this with out doing the TB. But somehow I get the feeling that you didnt research this long enough to understand what your doing. Good luck to you anyways.

Always do,belts, pulley and pumps.
I work on gas turbine too so I'm different.

That's called a fan bracket and it's basically just a bearing. Your water pump can't be seen until the front of the motor is torn apart.

Morning Jim,
Thanks a million for the link to the video!
This is very informative.
The cruiser overheated due to a seized water pump bearing.
Rudi.

That will normally take out the Timing Belt in short order?
