Finally got around to installing a brand new warn winch. This thing is one beautiful piece of gear.
I think it goes well with the CCOT bumper.
Installation is a snap. Routed the two main wires up through the frame rails then up to the battery.
Just thought I'd share. :)

Beautiful truck! You may want to keep the winch disconnected if you aren't using it and connect it when you do. A front end collision could mash the solenoid contacts together and short out and cause a fire. I use a marine terminal on the + side and wing nut the winch cable to it when I go offroad. There are numerous other solutions for this as well. 8274 is the best winch ever made. You picked a good 'un!

That looks like a new 8274-50. Congrats on that and a really clean looking truck!

Congratulations on the installation! I love the 8274-50 and despite having relatively little need for it, routinely talk myself out of installing one on my Troopy (with the 40 Series ARB front bumper). My only hesitation is that I would love for the winch to be less vertical and more low profile. Since it will be an aesthetic decision for 98% of its lifespan, I fret over it blocking the great front grill, particularly on a truck as clean as the one pictured above. I would much rather drive down the road with "Toyota" in full view rather than "Warn". I know - call me shallow. Anyway, any experience and/or thoughts around some of the more horizontally configured Warns (i.e. the XD 9000 - https://www.warn.com/truck/winches/src/XD9000.shtml)?

Yep. 8274... Good idea on keeping it disconnected.

I did almost go with a vr? Style. Low profile etc. But this one is old school cool.

I did install a low profile warn on a previous rig. Here's a pic. The only issue with the lower profile Winches, is you have to cut about 1.5 inches from one of the bumper mounting plates to create the necessary clearance.

I'll throw this out there. A plug and play with the CCOT winch plate that goes between the front frame members. Used with a bottom mounting winch, and let you keep the OEM bumper.....

Although these trucks don't look like they'd ever be left unattended mine is more safe. At least I thought so until I came back from a hike to find that someone had tried to remove my winch. One bolt was gone and the other upper was loose. When I got home and replaced the one I welded a little cover over it as a deterrent. It'd be easy to cut away with a cutoff wheel if I ever have need to dismount the winch but will keep those not so idle hands from attempting another campground parking lot theft....

Check out the little box on my photo - it is made by Tuffy and secures one bolt. I also put one on the bumper (underneath that you can't see) too since that is just a few bolts to remove the entire assembly. Cheap insurance! Especially for that winch which costs a LOT more money than mine did.

Very Nice. I forgot how pretty they are when new! Mine has a few miles on it.

No telling how many miles I would have had to walk the last 40 years without mine. An essential piece of gear, ...and beautiful.

Have the same bumper, but mine did not have the mount and I had to build that part. Finished mine up today.

The bottom 2 winch bolts are inside of the bumper and were very hard to get in, dont see anyone stealing it very easy for sure.

I put a Warn M8000 synthetic right before winter. Already pulled two people out of ditch from snow/ice. It is low-profile but the PIAAs block the TOYOTA logo.
