Something to be said about working on the Cruiser with Dad...
Great rig and great ideas on the painting.

Well.....a TON has been done on the Voodoo Baby over the past month :)

I selected a set of seats from an 04' Highlander for the front...as it will match the Highlander folding rear seat (from the 3rd row setup)

I fabricated up the seat mounts, as the HL seats sit MUCH higher off the floor than the Cruiser's stock setup.

I used the passenger seat mounts from the Cruiser....and welded them directly to the seat frame from the Highlander.

On the driver seat...I've got 8-way power adjust....and power lumbar too! :) Kinda cool to have in a FJ40....as my wife :Princess: will be driving it too (hopefully)! Plus, me being 6'2", it's kinda nice to be able to slide the seat ALL the way back to the wheel wells.

I'll snap a few pics of the seats and frames tomorrow.

Here's an update from what got done today:

My 2month old daughter :princess: and I cleaned the wiring harness....and got that routed thru the tub. I worked on getting the dash squared away...as I had some serious cleaning on the switches. I re-painted the lettering on the switches so they're looking great.

One thing I'll need for this is a battery tray. For some reason, I can't find it- anywhere!! IF anyone has one they don't need...let me know. If not, I'll end up fabbing up something :)

I'll have more updates in a few-

seriously cool

seriously cool build,

said it before but you cant beat that color, nice choice!
Nice build.

I was 6 years old before I attempted rewiring something--and well that didnt turn out all that well----110 volts into a 9v transistor radio!

To the tune of Mockingbird for :princess:

---and if that Jeep wont wheel Daddy's gonna find you an FJ40 deal!---:):):):)

After posting today's fun.....

I've got a few questions and hoping for some help from you guys!!

On the dash....when I bought the truck, I had 2 Fresh-Air vent pulls....and only one was hooked up!

I'm wondering what goes in the circled spots on the dash....I don't have any extra switches... I'm thinking there is a switch for the rear heat.....but I don't have one. Any thoughts?
I'm betting that in the wiring harness, there are 2 empty wires for the rear heat switch

This was not the most complete truck when I purchased it....as most of the truck was lost to rust! I should ask the PO....as she was a psychic....maybe she could tell me what was in the holes :)

I'm having to go buy a new 12v outlet....as the cigarette lighter wouldn't ever get used...and the wiring to it was goofed up! So that's why it's not pictured :)

I've also got a radio - speaker shroud....does anyone have a use for it? How's about $10 for it?
I figured I'm allowed to sell my stuff in my own thread :) HEHE I'd like to put a full-size single DIN radio in the dash, and route up some speakers elsewhere in the truck.

Also...here's a picture of the driver's seat mount. I used 1" square tube and 1/4 inch plate for the bases. This was a comparable size from what the seat frames are in the Highlander.

It took a ton of lifting the seat (45lbs) into and out of the truck....to get the dimensions right, but I finally got it. And welded 'er up. Pretty stout...and now I just need some seat belts.

If anyone has an idea as to what's pictured in the last one....I'll be suprised. I'm trying to identify it...and have no clue :)

It's on the passenger side wiring loop....about 2' from the headlight socket.

Anyone.....anyone??

That blue looks good on a 40. Unfortunately, about 80 per cent of the FJcruisers here in Tx seem to be that color, and I'm sick of that!

Could it be a turn signal flasher?

Yeah apterson is right its a horn relay.

i was considering that color for my build (if i ever get one:mad:)

she's lookin like a beauty so far though eh.

Degnol-

The 3-speed is the only one I have :) I have been on the look-out for a 4-speed, but I need to get this on the road.....especially after 8 months of just sitting in my garage!!

My plan was to put a 4-speed in....but I haven't been able to look find one for cheap- especially one thats in good shape.

You should have spoken up earlier BTW. I'm pretty sure we've got a spare H42 that we'd happily get rid of cheap (and it's not the H42 attached to the 2F in Dad's 40--which will also be up for sale soon enough).

I'll give you a call next time I'm driving that way.

Great looking truck! Glad you have the little helpers. Man needs all the support for his addiction he can get!

The hole on the bottom left is a 4wd indicator light.
The hole on the bottom right is Rear Fan.
The hole on the upper right might be for a soft top dash mounted courtesy light. Do you have a large hole to the right of the glove box?

Also could you take a pic of the wiring harness showing the heater switch plugs? I have another thread going trying to figure out the way the harness plugs into these two switches.

Thanks you guys for the replies!

CrazyGeek.....That pic is off of an earlier cruiser...but it gives me the ideas. I'm going to have to figure out the wiring harness...as there are a number of switches/wires that have no homes :(

This is where the Painless in the ass wiring harness would have been a good idea, but waay too much money.

Yep...it is the horn relay indeed....and I'll have to be replacing it, as it looks like crap!! Plus, that part of the wire loom is really cooroded. Suprisingly enough, that and the rear section need some work, as the rest of it is in really good shape!

I'm carving pumpkins with my kiddos....so I'll post up some pictures when I get a chance to get to the garage later tonite.

Here's a shot of what we accomplished this evening.

All without going to the Hospital and getting stitches!! - Trust me that's rare!!!
