Cargo area fuse panel? Something you added?I'm putting this off until warmer weather, but my plan is to run the power feed from my cargo area fuse panel (nice short run), triggered by a relay off the LRA switch that used to power the facet pump.
My tanks is almost installed. looking at wiring of the Airtex E84070N pump but can't find any data on amp draw. I see from above that @DesmoPilot used 10 awg wire from the relay. That seems pretty heavy. I wouldn't think this pump draws more than 10 amps but that's a WAG. The Holly pump is only a 2 amp draw according to @Julian73 post above.
I ran a 12g cable from a relay under the hood, this is triggered by the pump switch. I fused at 10 amps and figure pump start up could be 6-8 amps. I sized the wire based on keeping voltage drop under 3% (most low voltage DC cables need to be sized by max permissible voltage drop be it 1% for critical electronics to 3% critical systems such as coolers and fuel pumps 5% to 10% on lighting and non important systems). Based on final cable length (2x positive lead and current must make a round trip from battery, I calculate a 0.38 to .44 volt drop with pump under load. This is marginal and I should have gone 10g to be safe or a better yet to have rewired my old cable run to my rear fuse box. I used 4g but ran it through a 75amp relay so I could shut down all rear power outlets. I don’t recall what I was thinking with that line of reasoning as it has cause me to run dedicated 10g circuit to power my ice box. What we learn for the next time, but may never have chance to do again.I went heavier due to the length of the run and to prevent voltage drop. I have experienced voltage drop issues on a previous build. The Red pump is rated at 2A once it is running. The startup will be higher. Holley specs a 10A fuse.
I didn't see a better thread to ask this, but for those of you familiar or who did it yourself, how long does the install take? I've watched the video from OTRAMM and it doesn't seem too difficult.
Did anyone land on which higher quality/speed replacement pump is available now? Sounds like the Airtec one is NLA or not as good as it once was. So it's the $$$ Holley or bust?

I found that video from Otram very helpful.
I did mine on a weekend, took most of a day. Wasn't especially difficult overall. A bit of hassle doing it solo, but a hydraulic lift table helped a lot.
I have the original Facet pump and an Airtex(?) on the shelf. I was looking for higher volume.
The Holley looks great. But it was a lot more money, so I couldn't bite the bullet.
They should all work, some just faster than others.
Anyone ever make your setup so you can easily pump fuel to help out someone else on the trail?
Thanks y'all. This is what I needed to know. Moving to Colorado Springs soon and the extra range sounds nice. Anyone in the Springs available to helpI consider myself semi mechanically inclined and it took me a full weekend, one day for install, and the second to finish plumbing and wiring, on the 12.5. It is a tight fit. I also did it myself and without a lift. With a lift and a friend, and that will make everything a bit easier. The OTRAM video plus LRA instructions and this thread give you pretty much everything you need:

Cruiser Brothers 12.5 LRA Aux Tank Install in LX570
I must have been good cause Santa brought me a LRA subtank for X'mas. Kicking off the install today, paying close attention to potential LX570 installation issues. Talking to Georg and Ward, this might be the first so I'm a going in a bit tentative. Potential issues really is down to the AHC...forum.ih8mud.com
I wouldn't worry so much about the pump. Most complaints are noise and speed. I don't care about either. I'd run it until it fails, then upgrade. If any, make sure you upgrade the filter to the breather from the canister.
These tanks seem pretty popular now so lots of people have tackled installs. If you run into any problems, post up and I'm sure you will quickly get steered in the right direction.
Also, don't tap into any existing factory wiring for a 12v ignition source. Use an "add a fuse." Much cleaner and reversible install.
If you're hedging on upgrading your pump in the future, you will want to go ahead and upgrade the fuel lines on initial install. I can't speak for any of the other fuel pumps, but the Holley has a specified minimal I.D. line it needs to function. Otherwise, you're fighting physics of fluid flow through a tube, etc.I consider myself semi mechanically inclined and it took me a full weekend, one day for install, and the second to finish plumbing and wiring, on the 12.5. I am having a 24gal. installed with the stock pump. How concerned should I be with it?
I am going to drop my tank to replace my Vapor Canister due to frequent codes that just started a few months ago. Can you expand on the filter to the breather with a part number and what you did?upgrade the filter to the breather from the canister.
