Made a wrenchless nut for my spare tire on the roof rack since I don’t own a wrench large enough and want to make access easier on the trail.

Followed a good suggestion from @AlexFJ40 and welded two long bolts on the but to make it like a huge wing-nut. Sprayed some black paint and checked another todo off the list.

So from a flour to corn tortilla and you drained the grease. ;)

Lots of square feet on an SUV :) Does not even come close to painting my 25" Center Console and in a far better position. Steel is much nicer to work with than fiberglass, I still wear long sleeves.

Question about dual battery setup....is it as easy as buying one of the dual battery setups like below (I’m sure there is a better one, please let me know what is LC worthy!), Get a battery tray, hooking starter battery up with a 2nd battery and start running stuff off of it? That seems too easy.

You just went full on body and paint mode. You never go full on body and paint mode.

I would recommend spending another $10-$20 and getting MBRF fuses like these:

You can use these with them:

A lot of people helped me with the Tundra dual battery set up:

I am actually MOVING it to the LX450 in the next week - hopefully it fits - don't want to put it in the Tacoma :(

Do you have a list of everything you ordered? I will search through that thread. Thanks!!

Update: I ditched all the namby-pamby "I don't know what I want to do" crap at the bottom of the first post and put in a list.

Past couple weeks have been scrape, scrub, blast...repeat. I started some painting yesterday. I'm getting close to being ready to paint the block and head of the F135...then I can start reassembling the drive train.

New rear shocks on the Tercel. Made stupid easy thanks to the way they used to do things.

I pulled into the driveway and heard a loud bang from the rear. I looked underneath the truck and found this:
36740201_2109628399307151_647337127255736320_n.jpg

Full story: @fourtrax came over Sunday morning and helped tear down the axles in preparation for a regear. It was a messy job but I learned a lot and had fun. The wife dropped the 3rd's off at ECGS this morning. I am spending the next few days cleaning and prepping parts for reassembly with fresh wheel bearing grease and tons of valvoline palladium for the knuckles. I've got new bearings, trunnions, and seals for the front and new seals for the rear. While underneath the truck, we identified some other items that will need to be addressed like the damaged front drive shaft, speedo sensor oring, and leaky lower oil pan.

Anyone have a spare front drive shaft for sale?

Jonathan - I'm swapping to a double cardan on the '97. My front has about 130K on it. the 4" lift has only been on for a couple hundred miles. May be a good candidate. I can drive 2WD on the '97 until the new drive shaft comes in, right? :)

Edit: Price is "some beer or whatever" - - would need you to come pick it up. If you find better options, I will not be offended. Not sure when my new shaft will come in.

Looking good Dave. Pretty soon, all you'll have left is building new body mounts for the 55. :)

Yeah, and a new floor and new rockers and brake master and booster and parking brake and rear driveshaft and tailgate window re-do and the list goes on and on.... I keep telling Nathan that we will get to it. It's going to be a slow process.

It's a Pig Dave, I've not seen a clean one yet that has not been re done. Perhaps out west in the desert areas. I really like the 55 series look, but the rust has always kept me at arms length. Get Nathan started on the metal work now, he has three years right :) I am looking forward to see what you do with it.

Question about a utility trailer. What do I need to swap out the wheels on a 5x8 trailer? Will the axle work that is on there (same type of trailer you would get from Lowe’s). New hubs? What hubs would I need....5 bolt Toyota wheels. I can have the fenders cut reimagined for larger wheels if I can figure out the rest of the pieces.
