So what you're saying is it was common practice for auto makers to knowingly pump extra air into the exhaust to lower the bad emissions in the total volume of exhaust? So I guess the difference is the VW trick turns off when it's not being tested?

The air injection system (on a 60 at least) sends exhaust collected from the air rail out to the exhaust in front of the cat to cool off the cat if it heats up too much. The "air pump" on a 60 pumps exhaust gas, not regular air.

finally a good use for a maglight.
I don't know. In my younger crazy years I got smacked upside the head by one. Seemed a good use for whoever did it.:hillbilly:

The PW shirt was a prize i received for the iron butt award for longest distance driven to the 55 run in 2007

I got 56121-60100'd today
and didn't partake in any of the wrenching minus swiping a visa but hoping my leaking/squeaking windhield days are behind me now
 to beno for the OEM gasket; even the store owner said it was much superior quality to anything aftermarket available

...and more importantly, how far did the catapult fire?

Now Jim you know there are variables at play :D but from what I can remember of that night clay balls get a solid 10' and leave funny prints on a SS fridge. Popcorn not so much with a much different trajectory and hard to catch rebounding straight down off the ceiling.

John. Mine could move a little bit but concretejungles could easily push out of the seal. Never did but was scary how far and easy it would move outward. Don't recall trying in.

Mine has leaked for years and before it rusts into a real mess to fix or funks up my carpet again I went in for a reseal. The squeak however is what finally forced me to do it. Was unbearable and last run up to the mtns had a lot of gravel road time and it bout drove drove me insane. Driving for miles pushing out on the glass to keep it from moving around inside the gasket makin a racket.

I'm not sure im certain. I believe I have green. It looks fine. Actually amazingly clear until I pulled out of the parking lot. I just didn't want blue or a shade banner at top. I knew most Lexus came with bronze and had been hard to find for a while. Also more Spendy. Was mostly surprised wen he offered.

We ended up with cy glass. Yes it's Chinese but it's the oem supplier for all of GM currently. Ppg ,now pgw was available but couple days out ordered and over 50 more and blue with blue shade banner.

Ugh. It doesn't get any easier but you do learn a trick or two for that far upper stud. It just about got abandoned As I was admiring Alex's approach of removing the whole outer fender.

half banana job of replacing the power antenna mast on the 100. Took about 5 minutes total.

I finally installed my WagonGear tailgate storage lid and flush mounted my dual battery monitor in the shifter console.
Aaaaaaannnnnndddddd ? Pics man. We need pics Sam :) Nice score on the lid. You've had that for a while now huh ?

Went to fix my transmission fluid leak from on the lines to/from the cooler.. Fluid was leaking from the hard to soft line connection. I figured the hose was going bad because it was spongy. There was even an interior tear in it when I removed it. The end of the hard line felt fine so I put on a new hose and clamps. Fired it up and no luck - flowed like a river. I missed that there was a hole opening up on the top of the hard line at a point that the hose couldn't go over due to the taper of the pipe and the proximity to the other pipe.

You can see the hole (the rusty spot where the pipe gets larger) and a piece of paint from it to the left, halfway down the pipe.

Question 1: Is replacement of the hard lines the only fix?
Question 2: Is there any need to burp the system after introducing all that air from installing the new hose? If so, how?

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get one this past summer. I had only been wanting one for 7 years.
I'll have to snap a few pics tomorrow. I ran out of daylight to take any good pics as I was giving the truck it's twice a year bath.

Is there enough to room to bend the leaky pipe out & cut off the leaky area? If so, maybe you could flare what's left of the pipe for a leak free transmission line.

The leaky pipe has a shouldered taper like a rifle cartridge. The soft line connects to the narrow end. I'll have to investigate how the two hard lines are secured to see if they can be separated. I have no idea if I can cut off the leaky end and taper it down then flare it myself. Sounds like trouble. The rusty spot in the pic is actually the entire taper shoulder.

All I can think (if the 2 hard lines can be separated) is to cut off the pipe before the taper (larger OD side), flare the end, then get a hose for that size pipe and join it to the stock hose with the appropriate Male-Male reducer fitting. Not sure that this is even a good idea due to the high pressure of the line.

Damn rusting Yankee truck. BUT...I removed a lot of nuts and bolts today without breaking a single one! And all that dripping ATF loosened up all the gunk on my steering stabilizer and tie rod - wiped off so easily. Super clean now.
