‘Beer can’ story.

A guy with a bone stock 1st gen 4x4 mini (1980) went on an initiation run with our local club in 1984 to a trail in the local mountains that involved several creek crossings. He managed to turtle the truck on the transfer case at the very first creek crossing.
Our Canadian lumberjack Jacque said something to the effect of the Toyota mini being SO d-mn beer-can light that he could lift the truck off the rock himself.
He then proceeded to get out of his Jeep, walk over to the Toyota, turn his back to the driver’s door, squat down, grab the bottom of the rocker panel and give a mighty heave.

He instantly caved in the driver’s door!😱

By 1980 all steel was garbage. Running gear was king by then. After ~ 1973, gas shortage, everyone scrambled for gas efficiency. This brought us the Pinto, Vega etc.. and we all know where that went . Even the FJ40 thinned out and used recycled steel. Even today one could fall into a door side and dent the door. I have a 1969 and I would like to see someone lift the truck and see what gives.
If some one as you said lifted the rocker panel and the door caved, perhaps that was a rust bucket to begin with. Would make sense, after gas shortage all steel was junk. How many cars from the 1980s are collector cars ? There are reasons. Attached is a picture of a 1980 mini and even crap steel , not rusted out , seems that would not happen, assuming he was not andre the giant. So, if Japan was Beer can quality, USA was plastic bottle quality. Still better off with Celica than Vega/Pinto.

Also, could you explain a little bit about different thickness? The response I got was they made the thcikness "the same" as the original. If its not the same, I would have it fixed. This should be a very easy fix because its just a material change. Thank you for any information.
Depending upon the size and shape of the stamping, substituting thicker material may require a stronger press and/or different dies.

I suspect some of the earlier FJ40 parts (two piece hood with spear, side panel with bolted on heater air intake) were consequences of small or weak stamping presses that were eventually replaced with larger, stronger ones.

Juncheng has many different presses and depending on the importance of the job, or the dimension of the part, it may have been assigned to different hydraulic press. At the very beginning of this project they did not realize its importance but later on they remade more than 40 dies and jigs. They are still working on some others. I will discuss this case with them -- thank you!

Just ordered a pair of floor pans and got a discount. Shipping was $80 which kind of evened out the discount.
I hope they fit well enough…

Also, there seem to be some errant links for a couple parts.
The price may have to be adjusted with time goes by. The price was calculated based on our purchasing price from supplier and partly referenced from the market. I am sure many of them are not rational and need to be adjusted. Also we are still facing some issues with some functions of the web shop. We are working hard resolving them. I talked with Bruce and we both know it’s not reasonable. We just revised the purchase price and got $212.50 for the pair. Thank you for the feedback! We need more inputs!

It was the floor access cover panel, it was labeled as something else and took you to the fj45 area. Looks like you fixed it.

Around $200 for the door patch is far more inline with other vendors.

I’m going to be in the market for ambulance door patches in the near future, hoping you offer those. But let’s see how the floor pans are first😉… once they ship🤔

I bought one of your 45 roof panels. Seems very reasonably priced. I look forward to receiving it and checking it out.

I really appreciate what you’re offering. Knowing there is an option to buy a complete new 45 body is pretty cool!
 
A lot of these parts have drastically altered some of my future project plans.
