I purchased this vehicle in 2014 in Qatar. Since returning to Toronto, its been in an underground garage. I have Ontario plates.

I enjoyed driving / repairing it. I've replaced several parts, mainly original Toyota / OEM parts. I've documented my adventures here :
Qatar FJ45 Project - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/qatar-fj45-project.815153/
Qatar Exploration for FJ40's!! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/qatar-exploration-for-fj40s.791085/

But the time has come to sell it and move on to new adventures. The engine / gearbox / clutch is in great shape, but there are surface rust / scratches / wear-and-tear on the body. Its not perfect...but this classic is 40 years old and still runs. There is a small dent on the front left fender (due to an overzealous tow-truck driver).

Details are as follows :
  • Original 2F petrol engine
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • Stock power steering (with a small / minor leak)
  • Stock AC (refrigerant gas to be replaced). No heat.
  • Original AM radio (missing a few buttons / no speaker)
  • Custom bucket seats with a traditional fabric (Original bench seats are included – upholstery needs repair)
  • No smog control.

My FJ45 has Ontario plates; I have all the import paperwork. Vehicle is located in Toronto, Canada. I am looking for CA$45,000 [US$40,000] or best offer. Please message me if you have any questions / interest.

Beautiful example! Looks like it has been 464 Beige since it left the factory. Do you know the story on whether that is the original paint?

Did this truck sell?
hi @Sirrattles - nope; she's still with me. I spent the winter adjusting the carburetor / flushing the clutch and other fun stuff. Also got new car seat covers. If you are still interested, let me know if you need any specific details.

Cheers
Amer

I don’t want to ask this question on BAT and impact the auction.

In my reading it looks like all trucks regardless of age get hit with a 25% import tax at the border. Is that correct?

25 year rule seems to only apply to emissions rules.

Thanks @Yellow Jacket

I just checked ChatGPT & it does say there is an import duty 25%...so guess no US buyer is going to buy it. That means ..... I'm screwed.

I was really hoping I was missing something because I wanted to bid. Maybe someone will chime in. ChatGPT isn’t always right.

bid for it, i'm sure there is a loop hole. / ChatGPT is wrong. There are so many FJ45's being importing into the US, I cant believe everyone paying 25%. maybe i give you a different sales receipt.

Anyone with an internet connection is able to view the selling price of a BaT listing with a simple googling of the VIN.
Customs fraud is probably not a great idea.

Just sayin

that's a good point!! did not think of that. But how are people importing FJ45's?

I know its a bit late, but now understand the 25% duty does not apply to classic vehicles / pickup's. That's how all these Kei pickups are entering the US.
