Also, we spoke of bullbar options for the front. Strength and front contour fitting being the goals, emphasis on strength.

Nice.

If TT has offered a strong, full bull bar version of your front, Tony, that could have swayed me from my TJM T13. I am super happy with my BB complete with deer strike...but the clearance on your TT front is awesome—and I’ve seen first hand that it can take a beating.

You can always sell :D

But yeah, the bullbar Jason and I was speaking about will be very cool if it happens. The bumper itself is going to change slightly, the clearance will actually be slightly better as the tow mounts are being changed. More on that secret later ;)

I'm waiting to see if @reevesci will make a full bull bar version of Tony's bumper. If so I'm likely in there like swim wear. It's a pity CA is so far away or I'd just drop my rig off.

Yeah, I don't know what the masses wants. What I want may be far different than the average Jose. But, I suspect, if most people want a bull bar option, he'll make it a thing.

Might be interesting to do a critter-strike poll in a new thread. Curious how many have whacked critters big enough to potentially spoil a trip...or do dangerous damage in ANY vehicle.

I know where I fall... But curious about over-all occurrences. Probably statistic on it from highway patrol, but they would likely be very incomplete since you don’t always report them. Maybe Insurance would be a better star source.

I might leave that to the vendor.

But I think the bullbar, as a general idea, is good overall. The problem is it doesn't really fit the 200 with the current bullbar options. The normal ABR/TJM/ect bullbar fits the 70 series like a glove with it's squared off proportions. But the 200 being more streamlined, they look off to me. I like the TJM for it's strength, and it's closer to being contoured. Still a bit off.

But what do I know about style? I wear grocery store gray Hanes t-shirts everyday :D

Hey now that you mention it... Other than the one time in fatigues, the other 4-5 times you were wearing a gray t-shirt... HA! too funny. But, it works for me! Everyone usually laughs at my wool Hafflingers I wear year round..... :meh:

Ha! “Grocery store Hanes...” :hillbilly:

One thing I like about my TJM is that it just BARELY enters into my view from the driver’s seat...even though it fully protects the front...I’m not constantly thinking about obstructions.

My main input to TT were I still looking for one would be that if you’re gonna do a true bull or roo bar, make it fully protective...as opposed to the useless (though stylish) hoops on the (ARB) Sahara bar (I had one on my 100...or the pretend bars that still leave your lights/grill/radiator vulnerable like the little bars welded on VPR, for example.

On the other hand, some may like that stuff...so I dunno. ;) I guess from a protection standpoint, I say either protect or don’t. Not fond of faux protection, and I doubt TT Jason would be either.

I'm fine with a bullbar option. I'm thinking 1.5 and 1.25" x .120" DOM. I just left the shop to pull a radii on the outer grill contour and ordered two new dies from JD2. Hopefully they get here sooner than later. They are a week shipping time for me now I'm in CA instead of WY (if they are in stock).

Always love an excuse to buy more tooling.

Looks like to get the headlight surround bent like we discussed I'll need to swap dies twice for each one. But I think it will look killer.

I don't think Jason will build, nor will I accept, a non-functional bull-bar. Strength is paramount.

I can't speculate on what the end design will be. It's all in the brainstorming phase. The one that was spoke of will follow the contours of the grill/headlights and be tight to the body. The compound angles might be tricky but seams doable.

Ya, knew you (and likely Jason) wouldn't want that, but there seems to be a market for the faux stuff too...so I mention it is all...

@Markuson IIRC the VPR only has that little "contemporary" stinger that bolts to the main shell with a couple of stainless bolts (SS=strength reducer). I don't know of a full catchers mask style they offer. Pics if they do?

Ya. They don't. They are an example (to me) of "faux" protection (like the bolt-on hoop of the Sahara). The VPR "looks" really cool, but not too impressed. To their credit, they don't really pretend that it's that kind of protection...so all good.

I guess my post is mostly just giving away my shopping frustrating at the time that there were so few offerings in the US. TJM takes forever to get ahold of so it's sorta ARB, Dobs or faux if you're in a hurry..

Ever since last summer though, I think your Tony design would be killer (even if kinda ugleh) with a full bar option.

FLASHBACK.. SNAP.... I recently had a similar conversation with a Range Rover client. What he wanted was foolish and the biggest waste of money and would have caused more damage than it would have protected in the slightly incident. In a nutshell I told him I'd build it strong and it would be something I'd be proud to put the TT name on or he could take it home now.. That was 5 weeks ago and I'll be finished building it this coming week, my way.

He just didn't understand why it would be a bad idea. Finally I said let's do it this way... I'll take this piece of 10 gauge aluminum with no backing support to represent your idea... I'll put it in front of your radiator and then I want you to take that 16# sledge hammer and hit the piece of aluminum as hard as you can. He said, HELL NO! It'll F'up my radiator.. I looked at him and said NO SH!T REALLY...

HA!

I can get TJM shipped within 2-3 days if they are in stock through an Oz source of mine. I've gotten a few things for the 100 guys that were no a US shipped item. Back channels are a good thing sometimes.

Ha! Too funny! :)

Most of the 200 guys don't know me very well and only 4 have met me in person. I'm painfully direct and have no filter when it comes to stupid crap. Tony can attest to this.

You just have to put it into simple terms that everyone can understand sometimes and then sometimes you really have to go the extra distance to explain things....
