I don't have XL hands so I didn't find it too bad, easier than an 80 series Safari install which has a similar access challenge.
Done except for the flex hose coming from MMC.

Chris, et al: If you are going to install the snorkel yourself: The instructions instruct you to rotate the 90 degree elbow, that is attached to the air filter box, downward; presumably to create a low spot below the 90 degree elbow for moisture trap. To do so you need to remove the two bolts, on the engine side of the fender, retaining the collar that is riveted to this 90 degree fitting. This is easier if you remove the three bolts that retain the air filter box to the fender and pull the air box out a little.
I wanted to re-bolt the fixing collar back in place (otherwise after you rotate the 90 degree elbow downward, per TJM's instructions, the bolt locations won't line up with the captive nuts on the inner fender wall) so I drilled out the three rivets that hold the 90 degree fitting to the retaining collar. Then I rotated the 90 degree elbow so that it is pointed downward about 15 degrees from horizontal (per TJM's instructions; although they don't provide a degree of drop) then I drilled and riveted the 90 degree elbow back to the retaining collar.
The above is probably not necessary but I'm a little anal about such stuff

I also substituted 3) SS 12mm hex head bolts and lock washers (along with the fender washers TJM provides) for the 3 front side snorkel mounting locations as the bolts were easier for me to stuff up there and get started compared to dealing with a stud, fender washer and lock nut. YMMV.

hmm, I am interested in this now after reading the thread and my frequent water habits..
Our Antenna is the one thing that is broken on our new 100..
So why not buy a snorkel and rubber antenna vs. replacing the entire motorized antenna??

Yup, see some of the ideas on page 2 of this thread.. there are some soft antennas, some that could be mounted along the snorkel somehow, or even mounted elsewhere. Personally I'm annoyed by the default up & down behavior of the antenna, and since I haven't gotten around to RobRed's switch mod for that I'll get a 2fer here with the snorkel.
And I'm thinking that I could likely use that antenna switch for a winch control...
My plan is once I have the snorkel installed, I'll figure out another antenna solution. I'm still a front bumper away from a winch so there's time on that one!
The rear wing window antenna doesn't cut it for me. So I ordered a 31" whip with a spring type base. I'll see how that works...but from a reception point of view it should be about the best.

As mentioned you should really try one of these. Mine has worked better than the stock unit..

Where did you end up locating this antenna (within the vehicle)? Better reception than OEM antenna?!
I swapped the Toyo AT's (easy since they're on their own wheels) for a big midwest trip we did a couple months ago...and since its been warm and dry out here to date I haven't needed to swap the MT/R's back on...and I've gotten used to smooth and quiet tires
. But damn are they fugly!
I keep sending e-mails to Nitto requesting them to offer their TG in 285/75-18"...shouldn't be too big a deal since Toyo already makes tires in this size.

Hey Spresso, I have a question on the stock antenna: did you remove it completely, or just clip the wires and leave it in the fender? And did you pull the coax all the way back to the head unit, or just cut it? I'm looking at having mine installed tomorrow, and there's some skepticism about how simple/easy this is going to be.
do you guys really listen to FM/AM radio still? I don't get why this is even remotely an issue with all the available media out there that doesn't require the stock antenna. Really who cares if they have an antenna or not? for you old fellers you can get NPR on sirius or internet radio through your phone.

Yes I do. It's instant, it's hands-free, and I can leave my phone in my pocket. For longer trips I've got ipods and Pandora and all that other crap, but for around town I'm good with whatever comes out of the speakers. Damn guess that makes me an old feller.
You need to fully remove the motorized OEM antenna apart of the TJM Airtec install. I cut the antenna feed leaving 3-4" hanging out of the body grommet to serve as a fishtape of sorts for the next antenna. Don't pull the antenna feed out all the way without using it as a fishtape...its a RPITA to run that antenna feed back through without a tracer wire.
The other connector on the antenna is just the typical two part connector...

waaaay off topic, but the spressowagon needs the 35 MTRs back. It looks so peaceful and nonagressive. It makes me a little sad.
