Fawk...now we have a ******* antenna popo running around here :flipoff2:

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Where is the hole for the antenna, does the snorkel body cover it? What did you so to cover the hole? Any pics during the install? I think I bought the last one from Carl and inquiring minds want to know:p

waaaay off topic, but the spressowagon needs the 35 MTRs back. It looks so peaceful and nonagressive. It makes me a little sad.

Agreed! I've got a little driveline vibe that is obscured by the MT/R's...and I haven't had time to get the darn rear upper adjustable's built to play with the pinion angle. But yes...the darn spressoWAGON looks damn nekid with the Toyo AT's!

Yes the TJM Airtec covers the OEM antenna hole atop the fender. This was the only photo I snapped. Pretty uneventful install for photos anyway ;)

FWIW I ruined every plastic inner fender skirt retainer getting the darn thing off. So I'd suggest having extras on hand...

FWIW2 I had a 3-1/2" holesaw on hand and didn't feel like running down to get, and spending $, on a 4-1/2" holesaw so I just used the air grinder to enlarge the holes including the smaller holes for the 4-studs/bolts. Worked great. A step type drill bit would be better IMO for the smaller mount holes as it wouldn't catch and distort the sheetmetal compared to a regular 135* drill bit.

I should have the flex hose tomorrow or Thursday...that should make the install simpler and better in terms of a more airtight fit between the snorkel and the air filter box elbow.

It has been decaffeinated.

the 100 world is upside down, we are looking at the mintgreenteaWagon. A sad, day for sure. Bring back the Spresso, my control arms shed tears today.

Unbelievable isn't it?! :D Well interestingly enough I seemed to have survived* all those axle deep water crossings, apart of most of our trips together, without a snorkel :)...but the dust issue finally put me over the brink on the decision making process.

And of course the snorkel is and of itself another slippery slope project as the wind fairing will need to be modified...but the fairing was going to get modded anyway for yet another "little" project I'm working on.

*Once I got the diff breather system figured out

Stay tuned.

Speaking of Diff breathers...Curious if the rear diff Scuba mod use the same Corolla part like the FJC and 4runner.. Sorry I know that is way, way off but you got me thinking..

Stuck to inside of windsheild above the rear-view mirror. Yes better recption than OEM. My local best buy had them in stock.

Will the antenna you picked up work with an aftermarket head unit?

Bought that same one today, thanks for the tip! And good to hear that the snorkel also covers up the old antenna hole. Now to sell my old antenna to Caribou Chris to complete the hat trick.. :)

Classic! What size whole do you drill in the fender? I have a 4 1/8 dril bit from my FJC snorkel, might be too big.

Well it's pretty tough to concentrate on real work today, my 100 is down at Slee's going under the knife, or hole saw, right now. I wish they had a web cam down there so I could monitor progress.. although with the under hood lights, ham antenna, second battery, locker compressor all shoved over there they're likely cursing my name for all I know.

Maybe it's a sign of being an old feller... a common theme here for some reason, but a little shop time compared to what could have been all weekend just seemed like a good decision.

Christo if you're reading this post up a picture already!!!

^^^I was just reading about the new mfg plant Kimberley Kamper/Karavan is building. One of their features for the new plant will be a plethora of real time cameras set-up along the assembly line so the owners of the trailer builds will be able to watch their trailer being built in real time, by streaming video, all along its path! Pretty cool!

Ok guys...here's the step by step installation guide for the TJM Airtec Snorkel install (scroll down):

Step #1: Have somebody else install it.

Thanks again Spresso for the detailed instructions, that wasn't nearly as tough as I thought it'd be.. But the guys down at Slee did a stellar job, as they always seem to do. Next step on this one is hooking up the new internal antenna. I still get reception with the rear window thing, but I agree it's not cutting it. Few pics:

The template is fine. But with my XL hands its a RPITA to get at the rear anchor bolt/nut; with small-ish hands YMMV. And you need to install that washer and nut at least twice during the fitment process...so that's where a majority of my cussing was aimed :D

Got mine installed today and you weren't kidding about that rear anchor...and it just so happens as I was getting to that part two gorgeous female mormon missionaires from Australia decided to come harass me in my driveway. There was lots of talk about Jesus Christ, mostly coming from me cursing that rear ancor bolt....

I also didn't really understand the turning the elbow down part...I was able to use the boombox after I modified it slightly, but if I would have moved the elbow nothing would have lined up. I can olny assume the diesel motor has a slightly different configuration and maybe that part of the instructions is for diesels....

I sealed all the joints with this stuff, so it should be nice a water tight..

I hear ya Chris on the cuss' part . I ended up removing the OEM intermediate tube assembly and using a heavy duty/thick wall "flex" tube from MMC. So far I can't detect any "booming"...

The only way the elbow at the air box can be rotated downward per their instructions is to either leave the two collar retaining bolts off or to drill out the three rivets, align the elbow downward and then drill and rivet in new aligned holes.

Not sure its a big deal either way...
