ok so i spent too many hours at work getting trained on the new HP fusion jet 4200 3d printer. I did how ever get out yesterday for 6 hours cut out the sides of the ambulance doors. the major stumbling block was the body mounts i got are wrong some one either put the wrong bolts in or the wrong nut is in the mount. the mount had a course thread that i’m pretty sure is 3/8-16. and the thread on the bolts i’m betting is metric. so that is kind of holding the backend up so i guess tomorrow i’ll be calling about that.

did a few things wire brushed the rear of the frame rust encapsulated it, welded up the rear sil and side sil. painted the top of the air cleaner(it needs a second coat). I used eastwood extreme chassis black. the rest of the body panels should be here next week. So the plan now is to get the tub welded up and primed. drive it this coming summer then in the fall pull the tub paint it and clean the frame up.

Got a bit more time in the garage today bolted up the rear sil and tacked in the side of the door frame to the rails. I pretty certain the 40 has taken a good bit of accident damage some time ago on the driver side. The ups guy is gonna remember why he hates me. The rear, front fenders, front floor pans and both front rockers are set to come tuesday.

Lots of great work here! Be sure to test-fit your hardtop as you go, so that you know your bracing is good and that, long before you paint, you know the alignment is good and that everything will bolt up smoothly.

got a few hours. cut out some more rot. new compressor works like a dream death wheel spun til i was ready for it to stop. burned up one whole 4” disc. frame will be brushed and rust converter applied. going for a driver to enjoy then a full restoration

so after some blasting with my ghetto blaster(i’ll post a pic of it next time it out). i did covered that my rear frame member is a bit holy and not in a pope kind of way. exploring options on replacing it now. I did however get a few sections of the frame in front of it blasted and rust encapsulated. progress is progress!

poodle inspected some suspicious packages on the front porch. she decided they were safe and further inspection was required. turns out they were safe and requested packages. the pieces from @awl_TEQ were impressive i’d like to see the blank before it’s put thru the brake press. also thanks to kris for including the bolts for the bumper brackets now i don’t have to guess on the length

well time well spent at work. learning to use the measurement probe has its benefits. remaking rear leaf spring hangers. drilling out the riviets is a good time. i ended up pilot drilling them and then coming back with a .3125 drill. After that the punched out fairly easy.

Very high performance work on a not so easy project. Really liked your tub bracing (going to do that myself) Subscribed!

remade the rear leaf spring hanger. we didn’t have any scrap the right thickness so they are made out of 7 gauge. used a .438 joggle die to get the offset bend and a .120 radius punch to do the short leg. welded using a big miller welder. plug welded the holed and rounded the bead to make it look like a rivet

This is really impressive. I can't tell if you are building a Land Cruiser or a resume. The profile was cut with water jet, right? And what were those tangs for that you removed on the triangular shackle hanger? 1018 cold-rolled-steel? Did it warp much with those welds?
