After cleaning up from the birthday party i got some time to trim off the driver side fender. Even the wife is commenting on how much better it looks with the old rusty bed and fenders cut out. Got it fitted up just need to drill the holes for the bolts on the door frame

chipping away at some more thing. The remade seat frame brackets i bent up early this week welded in to the middle cross member. I also had to deal with the 6mm bolts on the front aprons which were all dog knotted up. 1 of the 4 came out. So i cut off the 3 and replaced them with the new weld nuts i got in this week. Mcmaster carr had square weld nuts that looked real close to the ones in the cross member in 8 and 6 mm. So the 8mm were for the seat frame mounting brackets. Also made sure to weld in the 6mm weldnuts for the exhaust shield in the cross member. At least i think that is what they are for. They are in the whatever they do their their.

trying on the new support channel. Now i need to make some end pieces or the outside seat brackets to mount to. Then it can get tacked down. see the new metal going on is very motivating even after ten hour days all week i felt like working some more in the garage.

wings for the center support/seat mounting area moving forward. ill have to get my seat out of the pile of parts in the corner of my building to get a measurement on where the holes and bracket mount on the wing pieces. I was able to put a offset on the wing to go under the mid piece. looks like it will be good to go here in the next few days. well that is baling hay doesn’t get in the way.

seat reinforcement welded in to the main support beam. bolted it in realized while looking at the bumps on my rear fender post that there should be a flange that connects the wing part of the main beam to the mid part of the rear fender. so i’m gonna have to deal with that here. but it looks nice all the same

i’ve got something going on. i think the vehicle was hit from the driver side at on point shifting the body to the passenger side. first one is the driver side second is the passenger a difference in the measurement is there. anyone have second to measure from the frame to the outside of the fender. that would be great mmmkay

passenger fender well parts are bonded ready to go. I ran out of weld thru primer so it will have to wait. not sure if i like the seem right at the corner there but i’ve got bigger fish to fry. Feeling really motivated still when the pieces come together. The one thing i know is slowing me down is my inner machinist wanting to make everything +/- .005”. But we roll on!

man strong work!! you've given the sheepdog and nice trim and hair cut! you've once again convinced me that an aqualu tub is right for me. just have the time or skills to do what you're doing!! look awesome. well done and man I love seeing these trucks rescued!!

thanks for the kind words. yeah this one is a true rescue. way more wrong then i originally thought i was buying. I’m plowing forward i’m am very lucky to have been mentored(and still am) by a number very talented machinist, fabricators and all round great guys. I’ve learn way more then metal working from these guys life lessons came right along with it.

I got all the doors in and fitted to an acceptable gap. So i had a buddy come over to get the top off. Then commenced the clamp circus and the sweat fest of welding in summer. The worse part about it was in some sections i had to turn my fan off cause it seemed to be blowing my shielding gas and i was having just the slightest porosity i a few instances.
