Today was a good day- made it through without having to use my A.K. (on my suppliers)...

Pallet finally got spit out from transport limbo!

Easily the most over-packaged thing I've received in the last two years - a couple layers of that mesh is strong enough to BE a pallet.

And icing on the cake, CNC-Dude took a break from Remora production headaches to cut some nice, easy plastic:

Progress;)

I promised Open Kimono on this new product development, so it you're squeamish or one of the lucky few that ordered and have been waiting with saint-like patience for your new face to arrive, you might want to stop reading and instead go to the next post on 'whether this 2004 I found is a good deal or should I buy my friend's 80 series.'

Ok - so when last we saw our heroes they had secured the mega-mesh and utilized advanced alien technology to segment it into usable sections

They were then passed to the metal-merging-masters to meld with the only material meant to mate the mesh and our marvelous mechanical motor-vehicles, ie 'sheet metal'.

Pursuing a preponderance of prudence pushed us to produce one piece for probing proof of part precision:

No.

Not like that.

After a little detective work I discovered that laser tables do indeed cut exactly what you give them.

If you give them the old file for a part, they will cut the old file over and over and over until you have a nice pile of material you can smash into the concrete until you're hands are bleeding too much to hold onto any longer and fill your recycling bin with because that's the only thing they're good for.

I'm trying to be funny about this (and hopefully not failing too badly) because it's all I can do at this point. I mean, like seriously, as if there hasn't been enough headaches on this product already?

To all who have been waiting, I apologize - I am hoping to have new bottom pieces next week and then be back on track.

To all looking to buy a grill in the future, start saving cause the price is going UP to pay for my ulcer medication.

To all following this soap opera, enjoy cause after this I'm closing the kimono.

Dude, I am so sorry. That sucks.

I am patient and appreciate your work. I will be in Bend this summer, maybe we can crack a cold one... and maybe I will just pick my grill up then. Ha

Bummer man, will your manufacturer let you do a first article inspection before they start the higher volume cutting? Hang in there sir.

Ok, so I am sorry for the bad situation, but dang dude, if that's what it takes to make a post that funny, well, it's kinda worth it. Well, sorta kinda, not really but kinda.

Crammed for time so this will be short and tired of posting whiney problem s*** so will spare us all - sheet metal finally done, at welder, should be done next day or so, then off to powder!

Realizing I have not updated lately (mentally exhaustion) so couple quick updates on the world's oldest LC project.

Welder dude completed his work!

It cost more than expected because it took longer than he expected.

But he is done and he delivered them to the powder-coater where they have been for the last week, waiting their turn in the queue.

And then I just got a text:

So, you know, costs more yet again.

But the last supplier step is finally in motion, so with luck I can finally have these in the mail next week!

With all these cost increases and massive scheduling headaches I was searching for another way to build these going forward, and found one. Not only can this shop handle everything (except packaging), but they can do batches with a few weeks lead time and deliver to me here in Bend (they are a shop over in the valley). The kicker? They cost LESS than my original estimate for this run (and certainly less than the overruns I'm into now for this batch). So good things come to those who wait, I guess?

Sweet! Good news on the ones going forward.

Since these first ones are beyond over the top, would you go ahead and just gold plate mine? Fitting really.

Well well well, what have we here? Something done EARLY?!???

So what's new with you?

The grills ship Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking good!!!

How do I get one?
I have a couple left from this first batch, and ordering a second from a new supplier but that will take 2-4 weeks to get setup and rolling. I'll put them up on the website for sale early this week.

All grills were packaged up yesterday and are shipping out today!

<sarcasm> Hard to believe it's only been 7 months! </sarcasm>

A HUGE thank you to all of the wonderfully patient mudders that helped support this endeavor! Every one of you were wonderfully patient and I really appreciate each and every one of you.

This thread is now almost done, with only one big post to go: the conclusion (warning for the squeamish: this will include financials).

While I have grills for the 03-05 and 06-07:
IMG_20180603_183454.jpg

it will be a little time before they come to market as I need to get 200 KISS Drawers out the door first, but I *will* be doing them after that. I don't expect that process to merit posts here unless things get 'entertaining', so, hmm, okay this might not be the 2nd to last post ;)

Alright, the (2) grills left from this batch are up in the store now here: Land Shark Outfitters

I'm going to let the dust settle, then bring up the new supplier, so they'll be back in stock in about a month.

I’ll take the second grill
