just found out that my gas tank is not venting properly...that was fun. Gotta try and fix that this evening....

You got a face full? That happened to me once - there was about 1/4 tank left and I got a face full of gas when I opened the cap.

Every time I filled up after that I stood off to the side when opening the cap but it never happened again so I stopped worrying about it....

I think maybe it's wheeling related. Off camber driving maybe creates a fluid pocket or something that seals off the venting...

awsome pix.........wish I could have been there; went by DDs off hand chance might run into him,
the hinges on the two part pigs look faily good; lots better than mine..............might have to run by there and snag some when David is there;

Lou

Lou - k9 set me up with a set of passenger front hinges - they look a little different than mine but if they work I now only need a driver's front set of hinges.

Got a little work in last night - was able to cut out the remaining rust on the tailgate. Tonight I hope to clean up the edges of my cuts and make stencils for the patch pieces.

Steve, the hinges on the drivers side on the 78? at DDs looked pretty good.......didn't seem to wobble when I did the lift test but you know how cramped it is there.am needing a lot of stuff also and was wondering about meeting up there and getting some stuff from David; he was thinking about sending the two pigs to the crusher sometime soon.as to the pig outside Bham, still waiting to hear back from the owner and see if he takes my offer; he was wanting 400$ for the carcass w/o motor/tranny/TC or axles!!

$400 is steep w/o motor/tranny/tcase/axles...I think $200 or let it sit.

I could use a pair of d-side hinges but won't fall apart without them (I hope).

Your Pig is looking great!

Thanks nat!

Has the PO or PPO ever changed out bulbs in the Piggie's fog lamps? One of the clear bulbs went out recently and I tried to change it today but everything looks like a sealed unit. Is this right? If so where do I get one of these units?

Got an hour or two in today after I hauled a huge load of mushroom compost around back to my fall garden. I washed the Pig. Man, you can sure tell where I didn't clear coat. I hope to get the ODG clean enough (no mud) so I can clear coat athe front half of the Piggie's ODG. It makes washing so much easier.

I noticed that my white paint did take a lickin' during last weekend's tail ride but its not too bad.

Also starting fabbing up my swing-out tire carrier. Room is going to be tight to mount both my tire and two Jerry cans. I hope to figure that out tomorrow.

Also got the parking brake working. Only had to tighten her up a bit. I'm a little concerned that the brake loosens up on its own. I don't remember loosening it so much that it wouldn't work but who knows. How can you tell if the ebrake is riding on the drum? I have to pull the ebrake handle out about 10 clicks which is right where my Haynes manual says. I drove around the neighborhood for about four or five minutes. I used the ebrake a few times and it slowed me down nicely. When I got home the ebrake drum was warm. Should I drive around for about ten or twenty minutes w/o using the ebrake and then see if the drum is warm? Would this mean that I need to loosen the ebrake a tad bit?

I think the PPPO put those one. I hardly even ever turned them on. Never tried to open them. I would have just replaced them with something better if a bulb burned out!

I think it was a Kaderabek mod. I saw them in a couple of his pics. I'll run by Advance and see what they have as far as bulbs. They worked fine up to this point.

Yeah, those were laying around my shop so I bolted them on. Not sure where they came from. I know I didn't buy them though. And I never used them either.

Just going for extra bling.

Well those lights do work well. I've used them a couple of times. I actually like 'em so I'm going to try and find a replacement bulb...we will see what the 'experts' at Advance have to say.

Got about four hours in today. I was able to patch up one big hole (4 inches x 16 inches) and welded together a big 'spider-web' crack on the rear tailgate that measured about 6 inches across and had about six cracks radiating out. My camera battery is dead right now so I'll have to upload some pics tomorrow.

Found only one pic on my camera from last weeks wheeling and camping before my camera battery died.

Here are some pics.

Pic 1) Left side w/ rust cut out. Right side (pic 2) looked like this.
Pic 2) Right side w/ rust cut out and metal replaced.
Pic 3) Spider-web crack welded shut. There was also a ~ half inch hole here I guess from the PPPPO's tire carrier. It was welded shut.

One of the next things I need to do (well sometime this winter) is straighten the rear bumper. I thought about using the "chain, tree and yank" method but don't want to risk tweaking my frame or making anything worse so I'll get a frame shop to straighten it up - then I can replace the rear body mounts that are rusted out.

I also need the bumper straight so I can mount a dual swing-out Jerry can mount.

When I was making similar plans I called Lance Williams (he made the bumper) for advice and he suggested that I take it off and just beat it straight with a BIG F'ING HAMMER...

Hmmm - well Lance is the man so I'll try some heat and a really BFH. Trollhole and I tried a combination of an impact wrench, hi-lift, bottle jack, floor jack and a BFH and got the bumper to straighten out by about half an inch but we lost our leverage at that point.

I have been thinking about my front bump stops. This thing has HUGE bump stops! I thought about shortening them and trimming my fenders but think that it might be good to leave well enough alone since those bump stops were probably installed by Lance anyways and he knows better than I do.

Off to some art fair w/ the :princess: and the dogs...will be back working on the Piggie this PM.

Yeah I thought the bump stops were huge too but was afraid to change them. If you could rig up a ramp you could maybe figure it out...

A buddy has a forklift which = automatic ramp. I am going to put new shocks on sometime soon and w/ the forklift we are going to figure out exactly what I need. I want to double check since I broke one of the shock mounts this spring.
