So it’s been a couple months since my last update. I couldn’t get my buddy out here to weld the keyway, so I bought a $150 welder off Amazon and learned enough to do what I had to do. I made a copper key to weld against and then filed the excess into shape. I wound up ordering a Dayco PB1053N harmonic balancer from Rockauto for $315 because mine was too chewed up to speedi-sleeve. Finally put it back together and tightened to about 100ft/lbs on the balancer nut and it spun loose. Found a replacement nut from Mark’s off-road, chased the crank threads with the proper size die, and got it back together. Went for a solid hour drive and it’s all good.

The next week, I went to Home Depot and it died after 10 minutes. Everything looked fine, and after 10 minutes it started fine and I drove back home. I threw an inline spark checker on the #1 cylinder and went for another ride. 10 minutes in, and it died. No spark. Went to a great local place that’s been here for 60 years, picked up a coil, swapped it, went for a ride, died after 10 minutes. At this point I figured it’s the igniter, so I ordered up the Pertronix kit from Redline and installed it yesterday. Went for an hour ride and all good. So I’m back in action, and waiting for the next thing to go to s*** 😂

I got one at my dealer for about $70 within the last year. I find now that I've been playing with landcruisers for a while that there's no shortage of people willing to buy parts from Toyota motor company and then sell them to you for more.
Most of this stuff is still very available and there's no need to go to extreme lengths to source things that the dealer stocks.
Don't assume something is out of production, ask the dealer, it's highly likely that they have exactly what you need at a reasonable price.
$70? For a gas cap?

Been a long time since I’ve posted since I’ve been busy driving this thing. I had a roadside photographer snap some good pics of the pig going through the local state park, and I picked up a new distant cousin to keep the pig company. It’s a hoot

You should try and get on the waiting list for the Thanksgiving dinner at Starved Rock, it’s fantastic!

I’ve heard that but I’ve never eaten there. We generally try to avoid it on weekends and holidays because the whole area is way too crazy with city folk 😂

Not sure I can wait until tomorrow to watch anything with your beautiful pig in it!
