Man, I have enough OCD tendencies/problems, I don't need my neighbor egging me on......Need to shine that valve cover a little more!![]()
0000 Steel wool on aluminum tubing works wonders....Sharpie doesn't stand a chance!I sure hope you get rid of those sharpie marks on the new fuel lines! That is one of my biggest pet peeves when running conduit.
Now we know you’re mortal!OK, first a 'DUMD A$$' moment....I buttoned everything up last night, or so I thought! So I turned the key one click, let the Sniper cycle, the turned the key and it fired right up. "SUCCESS!!!!!!" or so I thought.........Backed out of the shop, jumped out to pop the hood for one last check before a test drive. DANG, I smelled gas! Looked under my rig, and sure enough it was pouring gas at the new hard fuel line connections just in front of the oil filter. So I pulled it back into the shop.
Out came the battery to check those two new connections............and then it HIT ME! When I disconnected the old return line, I was surprised that no gas poured out. In the moment, I just hand tightened it to the new return line and jumped to the next line. Then I disconnected the old supply line, I knew gas would be in it, so I was ready. Swapped over to the new supply and tightened it down...........(NOTICE WHAT I FORGOT TO GO BACK AND DO?) Yep, being only hand tight, the return line was pouring out fuel while under pressure.
OK, so I tightened the return line, and one last check on the supply line. Then reinstalled the battery and fired it up. Voilà - no raw fuel on the shop's floor, so off with a test drive. BINGO, happy to report, my DD is back in action. I do like the new bracket and fan belt setup much-much better.
That VR1 pic was taken a few years ago....yes, the blue lid VR1's were poured in. Funny you mention this, a few years ago when I received several VR1 cases, I noticed they had changed to blue lids. I never knew why.Maybe it’s just new packaging, but I’ve always used the blue lid VR-1 as I thought the non-blue was true racing oil meant to be changed much more often?
Great minds think alikeIt was time to change the fluids, SO..........

The steel units get the steel crush washers, the aluminum units get the aluminum washer, and the oil pan gets it own washer. All plugs have a washer and a bead of the sealant. The sealant shouldn't be necessary, but I use it.Is the Loctite in place of the OEM gaskets/crush washers?
