Man, you are a couple days behind us. We didn't go up the pass, but looked around Telluride for a day. Great pictures!

Skipped Black Bear, didnt want to risk running it by myself.

I ventured to Rico. Let me tell you, seeing/ smelling the surrounding area burning was tough. I feel for the Co residents who are in danger and also those working to contain the fires. Between the lack of snow and the fires it was pretty heart wrenching to see on of my favorite places on earth in its current state.

The fear factor re: Black Bear is significantly overrated via all the legends. We've done it in everything from a bone stock 1949 jeep (non-existent seat cushioning was the worst part) through FJ40, K Blazer and Pig. Anyone at the Pig Party could easily do it, (including Dr. Mike and his bone stocker on bias ply tires) with just the common sense everyone exhibited during our runs at the North Rim and last year at Rico. And, in my experience, you're never alone on Black Bear. Plenty of company is the reason only one-way traffic is allowed.
Good news is that you did Imogene, easily the most scenic of the named passes and absolutely breath-taking when the wildflowers are in full bloom. Here's a pic of our first FJ55 (the one I should have kept, that's original paint except for the passenger rear corner) back in the summer of 2008.

Looks like you had a lot of adventure post Pig Party and after we said goodbye at Fredonia. Impressive.

Stopped at a buddies in NM to swap the electric motor on the radiator fan. The local auto zone had a fan assembly on the shelf. (Lifetime warranty) I pulled the guts from it and placed them in my precut shroud.

Over the last few days it’s been giving me the warning signs it was on its way out (Squeek Squeek). Heading out of Colorado last night, it spun its last spin.

I always prefer a traditional water pump fan, but just didn’t have room for the Oem 100 piece. This fan was sourced out of a Nissan van at the pick and pull, during the beginning of the build. I’m actually surprised it made it this far. Being one of the only non Toyota parts on the truck, I figured this might happen along then way.

With the trip over any changes, improvements, fixes for the wagon?

The pig still retains many of the quirks of driving an old rig. Mechanicaly it’s rock solid, but it still needs some “attention” on the interior/exterior. At this point, it’s ready to be fully disassembled for a frame off restoration, but to be quite honest, I’m not. Maybe in a few years, but for now I’m going to enjoy it as is, for what it is an old truck with “some” upgrades.

Some of the most favorable compliments I received were that you’d never know the engine or chassis had been updated. I think this is in part to the interior/ exterior not being redone professionally- it still looks old which is good in my book.

I will be swapping the stock springs out, they are great unloaded, but I needed something stiffer with my crew and gear on board. Other than that, I’m leaving it alone.
