Agree with above. Don't underestimate the power of this forum either. If you hint to them that you are a part of a 'Cruiser club and an online community and that you are posting updates daily that may be all the leverage you need.

Might be a statement as to the level of confidence in those rebuilding the engine...

At the same time, conveying complete confidence that you'll be in again after a year to drop even more money. It's kinda late 1.5 years after the fact to question the warranty provided with the work, but still.

Maybe a letter to Toyota Marketing / Toyota Corporate would be a good move at this point? Granted it runs well enough, and John still has more tests to go through to confirm the problem. Regardless, the rear main shouldn't leak like that only a year after being replaced.

That was informative thank you @GLTHFJ60 . @jrmudder84 I can't hear s*** and I don't have the diagnostic gear, but happy to lend a hand in the diagnosis if you have access to the testers and air after this weekend.

Yes I know. It's getting. Done. Just need time

Okay so the compression test was 170ish in all. And the leak down test was fine not major air leak anywhere

Tell me the same dealership who did the rebuild didn't perform the leak down and comp tests...

There is something wrong with that picture. I would bypass the oil cooler for a time and see what that does. Just run a bypass heater hose on it. Flush out the oil and try that then. Should be a 5/8 heater if I remember.

The leak down test isn't just to identify major leaks, it can also identify small leaks!!!!!! Did you find any leak down at all on any cylinder?

He asked me about bypassing this oil hose via text, I said I didn't think it was a good idea. I know the older 2Fs came without oil coolers, but older 2Fs were also installed in light(er) FJ40s and manual transmissions. Think it's safe to bypass?

I would not drive it like that I would just let it run in place like that. Just idle it or slightly above idle to see what happens. But you are correct I would not drive it.

I REALLY want to know who did this testing.

The max that was lost was 4 psi.
