Review Terrain Tamer Parabolic Leaf Spring Review (10 Viewers)

I got 1/2 done yesterday then dove into the front today after lunch.

First things first, add some 4* shims via Valley Hybrids to the front pack.

The extra small leaves on these packs are used to take up the same physical space in the Ubolt as a standard multi leaf pack. I doubt they play any part in the action of the spring at all.

One other feature. The other two leafs don't touch. They have isolators between them to reduce friction.

I'm running a @lcwizard flip kit but looking at the ubolts provided they are just standard stuff. Same as the others.

I like how the parabolics are nice and flat where the caster shim goes. All other brands they are curved there and you have to really tighten the crap out of the center bolts.

Bonus, the Terrain Tamer center bolts were long enough to be reused with the 4* shims

While I can understand the reason they added the short leaves, I would get shorter u-bolts before I’d sacrifice 3/4” of clearance. The pictured U-bolts even have enough threads to ditch the “spacers”.

I’m intrigued by the reported ride improvement. I’d be interested to see how they hold up… especially with a heavier truck. My 40 weighs in at 2000 lbs, and 2700 lbs rear (hardtop on).

Your 40 weighs way more that 2000#
 
I believe he means 2000 for the front only…and 2700rear with the hard top? but 4700 lbs total seems high…. I’m guessing around 3500 total

You’d be interpreting it correctly… the front should theoretically be lighter since the 350 SBC weighs considerably less than a F. Winch and bumper offset that some.

The 4’ x 8’ sheet of 1/8” steel the rear floor and inner fenders are fabricated from, 6 point cage, Confer rear tank & 20ish gallons of fuel, air tank, and Tuffy console increase the rear axle weight. Without the hardtop and extra fuel tank (& fuel) it was almost perfectly balanced front to back and side to side. Which I’m sure is part of the reason it performs so well off road… even though it has open diffs on both ends.
 
I've got the terrain tamer 2" heavy duty lift on my 60 and it's awesome! The ride is crazy smooth for a40yo tractor. Georg helped me figure out a bunch newbie problems(I installed myself with little to no mechanical experience) . Even without the rear tire carrier its a VAST improvement over whatever the po slapped on View attachment 3983384
Just stripped my old suspension off my truck to put these on, and before I do I figured I asked the guys that already did...

Did you put on new rubber leaf spring pads? additionally, did you keep the box like bracket that sits over the leaf springs - I think its called the leaf spring retainer plate?
 
Recently installed a parabolic kit on an iron pig. Worked with the Terrain Tamer / Don Kyatt staff in California to put together the kit.

Great update in ride quality. The suspension before was fully worn out.

Front springs for a 60 series. Rear springs for a 75 series. To mount the rears, the back spring perch has to be relocated 125 mm.

Had a couple of issues to work through. Frame perch bushings sent were too large. Larger diameter front left shock rubbed on steering rod. TT / Don Kyatt guys responded quickly with replacement components. They also provided recommendations for rear spring assembly rearrangement to lessen the stink bug stance.
Hopefully, replacement tires next should improve the ride more.

Looks rad. What were their suggestions to lessen the stink bug stance? I'm looking at this kit for my FJ62 but i'd like to avoid the stink bug stance at all costs.

Rearranged the short sections, moving one plate from top to bottom, raised the front about an inch.
