Interesting, it may be because the working fluid is diesel instead of gasoline. Dunno.
About 30 years ago I set up the fuel system on my boss' wife's ski boat hauling big block Suburban (would pass anything but a fuel station!) with the then ubiquitous Holley "Blue" pump and regulator. The truck was having vapor lock issues, so I 'T'd the supply line at the regulator inlet and put an -6AN 10 psi check valve on the branch. Excess was returned to the fuel tank and that kept the fuel moving in the line well enough that it didn't boil.
