It's mechanically not possible to get axle wrap with a linked suspension .

The rear axle checks out fine and it is solid. My clutch is bad. I must need some lessons on properly breaking in a centerforce clutch as this is the third clutch from them that I’ve had do this. The other two were on our 4Runner.

The banging sound from a few weeks ago is coming from my front carrier bearing driveshaft. The bushings are torn again and it’s flopping around on the mount.

Glad you’ve figured it out, sad to hear it.
Valair for the win?

If you need a front driveshaft carrier bearing made Jesse still owes me one. Is your bearing fixed in its mount or can it swivel?

Adding for reference some of this conversation post 1265 on page 64.

Thanks, Matt. My carrier bearing is fine. The mount is damaging the bushings that isolate the bearing from the mount. I will source a different bushing to see if I can get something a little more durable in there.

Might check what MitchMade is running for his prerunner carrier bearing mount bushings. Those guys can abuse stuff.

Thanks! I just need two new polyurethane bushings. Everything else is fine.
I still vote for a spherical carrier bearing hard mounted but what do I know.
I think your final solution to this was on page 72 or so and I just don't see how your engine/trans/tcase can roll and not continue breaking the rubber mounts, at least, the bearing at worst. Probably somewhere in between, wearing out the bearing until the bushings finally give way.
I understand not wanting to change it though, is carrying spare bushings for in field replacement viable?

Are their t cases mounted hard to the frame? Like I'm assuming a divorced t case would be?

ETA I see now this is specifically for a different application, but my question still applies to buggies, and the people who you are saying are abusing stuff.

I am not going to worry about the carrier bearing unless it starts showing signs of a failure. The current bushings are designed to press fit into the mount that I made and that mount is cutting the bushings. I need to modify the mount a bit and install new bushings.

I moved my mount when I replaced the hard mounted setup with this unit. This bearing is now mounted to the transmission crossmember, which also has bushings and moves with the drive terrain. I don’t see a reason to reconfigure this.

Ah, cool, I didn't see the last iteration of it then!

All good but I am docking you 2 points for not paying attention. You can gain those points back by giving me a ride in your Cruiser to get an ice cream in Ouray, but your Cruiser must stay planted on the pavement the whole way with limited lean of the body.

Page 72…

Consider it done!
