I'm interested in the propane injection. Are you going to run it in your setup, Steve?

It is something that I have been thinking about, most of what I am reading about it seems to be pretty good.
If I do decide to do it, it will be down the road. Main priorities are getting it drivable.

Hey Stevo-----great progress. There's definitely a reason why the diesel was employed in all serious-hauling for more than a century: Simple, Reliable, Bullet-Proof......and the beautiful cacophony of symphonic multi-harmonic notes than only Men and some Woman can understand. Makes a person crazy, really.... I mean look at boots: the only disease of sorts that puts smiles on a face by just..... doing something nuts like, startin' 'er Up!

I've had the disease for five years now.....now, you. Next Kline. The Disease for all things Gas. When you tasted superior, inferior fickled spark-movin' engines can seem like .... well, you get the picture :)

EDIT: How can i forget Cumminscruiser whose had his 6BT in his and DD'ing for the last FIFTEEN plus years! DD for that time going from Bay Area (Cali) to Sacto for 5 years.....then Gold Country to Sacto for 10 years....

Yes, I'm wrapping up "battle-testing" the rastforte by simply driving it as a DD. Of course with my current OTR trucking job...i'm getting realistically only 33% of the month actually driving it. But, I try to remember that I did nothing more than bolt, wire and fire....then drive, drive, drive....it still starts on the first 1/4 turn of the flywheel. It still purrs. Next phase is starting when 2013 greets us here shortly. Now ----rightfully so----it's your turn to INSPIRE ME and Rastaforte! Full circle.

Well I am glad to hear from ya. Hopefully I can be as inspirational as those others who inspired me to begin this compression ignition adventure.
If you ever make it to the east coast you should let me know, if the truck is finished I'll take ya for a spin.

Rasta said it! If I could bottle the smile on my 16 year old son's face as he sat in the driver's seat and we cranked out the first black smoke I could put Budweiser and Jack Daniel out of business!!! God Bless the Y chromosome and it's relationship to pure grunt power!

Its so true.

One of the issues I have been thinking about is how to hook up the speedometer cable to the NP205. Are there any issues on hooking it up?

I thought I read somewhere here on the board about someone who makes either an extension cable or an adapter type cable/or adapter....for mating different type speedo cables with different tc and transmissions vs the vehicle.

I don't know just what these guys can do but I found this link a while back on mud. PUSH-PULL.COM

Thanks for the recommendations. I will have to look into that some more.

Yesterday I focused on wiring for the motor and systems and completed about 95% of it.
I was able to tie everything into the old wiring harness.
I am now able to start the motor up using the Toyota key and I have to say it feels really good. :D

I fabbed up another battery tray and tie down and installed the second battery.

I also wired up the ABS sensor and tested out the connection to my tachometer. It works!!! Its so cool that this worked out so well.

Sorry about the super crappy cell phone pictures.

The tach is cool. I didn't even run mine long enough last weekend before we shut it down to look at the tach. I'm still waiting on turbo parts for my wh1c. I ended up ordering a core for it. I got the rebuild kit but upon further inspection I found a couple of burrs on the shaft and decided not to risk it. Everything else is pretty much in place. Like you, chasing the rest of my electrical, even have backup lights right now! and like you wired the solenoid to work.

Made it to that mud run last night. Everybody wanted to now where my project was. Big bummer! Just got though washing the clay mud off my dd. some pretty good slinging going on around midnight.

I also have my intercooler piping in place. No intercooler but I think It will all be fine. I have fit the grill over this and it will work with just a little plastic trimming on the back of the grill.

Just used a four inch hole saw and cut the radiator wall. Also changed the radiator support brackets. Had to cut off the little rubber mounts and weld it up a little different to make the room for the piping. Also a little wheel well trim right at the front right. If you you need any 2.5 inch intercooler tubing I have several pieces left over. Advance has the 3-2.5 adaptors on the shelf.

Looks good.
I could use some intercooler tubing, PM me with what you have and what you want for it.

I tore into the 14 Bolt last night and was able to get a bunch of things completed on it.
Old Stupid metal truss welded on the axle.

Looking better:

Ready for new perches and shock tabs.

I still need to pick up some flap wheels to get it nice and smooth. But to get it to this point only took 2 hours or so. I wanted to make sure there was plenty of time to cool so it wouldn't get heat soaked and warp while I was torching the old brackets and truss off.

I pulled off the old drum brakes and have to say these axleshafts are STOUT!!!

I also marked up where I will shave the axle to. (Axle is flipped upside down)

I'll check what I have and let you know.

Wiring question? two wires going to altenator, big white one and yellow one, the yellow one changes colors before the firewall to black with yellow stripe. Is this yellow wire the voltmeter connection?

I think so, I attached both to the positive post on the alt. You are running a external regulator right?

Nope. 1 wire altenator w/ internal regulator.

To extern or not-to-Extern the regulator: it's oop to ya! See it's the regulatoors that die an early death and when day go.... they take the whole darn tang down. External makes it easier to replace the cheapo part (regulator) and leave the diehard part (the alternator-AC producin' stuff)....
