Hydroboost got installed today as well. There was a slight issue with the MC from the Astro.




So I took a quick trip to advanced auto and ended up with this.

Cool build Stevo! I'm at almost the same point with my 6bt swap. In fact my son and I just slid it in the engine bay for the first time yesterday. It is truly an awsesome feeling to see that monster sit in there for the first time! I am going with the nv4500 and had it all bolted together when it went in. Managed to find a donor truck with all I needed.

did you have to change the top hose outlet on the radiator for the cummins hose to fit? I am thinking of changing top and bottom on the rad. to fit the cummins hoses.

Nice, you should post up some pictures of your build.

I left the outlet the same I just sleeved it with a piece of the FJ60 radiator hose then slid the Cummins hose overtop of it. .

Here is where I was I before deciding on doing a cummins.



Here is my donor truck. Notice it is 2 wheel drive so when I rebuilt the nv4500 I had to change the rear of the housing and the output shaft.


I have new paint now and will have some pics of the cummins sliding in later. I will keep tuned in to follow what you are doing! Keep up the good work!

that MC looks huge .. if you wanna go with stock calipers .. it might be an issue ..

The application for the MC is a 1990-1995 Chevy Astro or GMC Safari. It has a 1 1/4" bore. It's advanced autoparts number was 102534.

I will be running large single piston brakes up front and am planning on upgrading the 14 Bolt to disc brakes so it hopefully should work pretty well.

Don't want to be the negative guy here .. but 1 1/4" was way to much ( large MC ) for my application ( Tencha ) and my taste ..

Don't worry, you're not the negative guy. But just curious you still have toyota axles right? Disc front and rear?

He is running one ton axles, not Toyota axles. This master cylinder will think it's attached to a stock truck.

I'm running a 1 1/4 on 404 mog axles and it is barely enough. BIG truck brakes will probably be fine with that MC. What diameter are the pistons? 100mm?

The front pistons are around 3.37" so thats around 86mm, plus i'l be running rear disc brakes as well. I'll have to measure those tomorrow.

Yeah, most 1 ton trucks are running 1 1/4 or larger MCs.

That is what I am hoping.

I had the 1 1/4" bore on my setup for the first 8 months or so and it sucked! I do have stock axles though so I would see how it does with your setup.

All of the braking power was at the top of the pedal travel and I could easy push through the travel of the brake pedal and it would go to the floor. Down right scary in emergency situations. I switched to a 7/8" camaro or firebird MC and it is much better and stops 40's on a dime if you stomp on it.

Not sure if I missed it in the thread but what have you got planned or have done for your intercooler? I am thinking about just plumbing some staight boiler cooler pipe under the front of the radiator and AC and back around instead of buying a small intercooler for the time being. Room in the engine bay starts to be an issue on the right side especially when I'm keeping the AC. Got to have that. It's been 106 here for the last 3 days!

Its been super hot here too, but I am not running AC so I have some more room on the right hand side.

I am not 100% sure what I want to do yet. I have a ton of room on the driver side of the motor so I might run a air-to-water intercooler. Or I still have room in front of the radiator to run an air-to-air up front.
It's one of the things I have been putting off thinking about, but I will need to get on that pretty quick.

This is the water to air kit I am thinking about running:

And for the air to air its this guy:
Turbo Intercooler

Air to air would definitely be easier to route, and is less expensive. So unless I find a whole bunch of information on why running a water to air is better I will probably end up going with the air to air up front.

All I wanted to do today was get 1 thing accomplished on the truck and unfortunately I failed to do that.

While removing the vacuum pump I broke the oil feed line to the pump. In my attempt to remove the vacuum pump, I stripped the head off of another bolt.

I have everything ready to go back in but now I have to wait for the new feed line to come in.

Even the new alternator I bought won't work.
The pulley on it is for a 6strand serpentine belt, my belt has 8.

So I just quit for the night with nothing gained.

Can't you just swap pulleys real quick? Shouldn't be hard to find an 8 rib pulley for it.
I like what you have so far. Interested to see what you end up with for your intercooler.

I'm slowly accumulating the pile of parts for my 6BT swap. I'll probably start on it in the fall. Ended up deiciding on a Dana 60 front, and a C&C 14 bolt.
