yup just like it says i ordered some TG sliders i was gonna do the marlin sliders but the tube ratings were the same and the TG were 67" and the marlin were 68" plus the TG were a bit cheaper, so i went with them for a better fit and a money saver.

anyhow last night i rolled out the welder and grabbed some jack stands and started the proces of figuring how/ where i wanted em.

i decided to run the outriggers through the pinch weld (less of a downward angle as well as some added ground clearance) and to grind the pinch weld out of my way for the 3 supports. i think the driverside is pretty much ready to be burnt on just need to double check.

i will have pics soon!

pictures!

i started with the frames and outriggers as you can see in the first pic, then it was time to cut and tack then test fit and see how it was gonna work out.

you can see in the first picture where i used some of the cut off peices to make the out rigger longer and also give me the apropriate angle for conecting to the front portion of the frame
2nd pic may not be the prettiest welds but when painted and after a few rock beatings as long as they hold up is all that matters.

the 3 holes i cut into the pinch weld for the outriggers to come through

pretty much how they will sit when fully welded and finished.

i have them sitting up as high as i can with the least amount of cutting to the body, sitting out far enough i can pivot around trees and rocks without getting into my door as the slider sits i think about an inch maybe two from the furthest point out of the door, and i angled em up enough to where i can slide up and down objects with more ease and still again helping with ground clearance but yet still have enough room to open my doors and some "room for error" from a very very hard hit ect.

are you welding the outriggers to a small plate first or just attaching them directly to the frame. at the frame will you add gussets on the vertical axis for extra support?

im just attaching them directly to the frame, and as far as gussets go i gont have any made yet but i will probally be making some and adding them as i dont see how they could hurt.

first 2 are them tacked in place
last one is of em painted

The sliders look great tucked into the body like that. I'd put gussets on before slamming on them though.

looks great. did you notice that you have a dent in your door and a low rear tire? just asking:p

clint

lol yea i noticed, rear tire is a very slow leak it has a mesquite thorn in it that goes straight through the tread block if i remember corectly. and the dent in the door is from when she went belly up. well allmost the roofrack was touching the ground and was lower than the tires...

I finally finished my sliders, I got the passenger side on there the same time i helped a buddy of mine put his on his 62.

I put some plate behind the tubes on the passenger side as recommended above and welded em to the frame in a diamond sort or pattern.

Im ready for round up now!!

i drove it yesterday for the first time in months... see last picture... lol.

all of my welds were done using flux core wire which i am finally out of so now i have an excuse to buy a bottle and some solid wire for much cleaner prettier beads.

Those look like the same sliders I have... very similar. I like the tucked in design. :princess: hates it (she wants more of a "step").

P.s Great looking welds for flux.
