The sliders look great. Did you have a shop or a buddy bend them? i want to make some myself but always get a little lost when it comes to the bending of the tube.

They are pre-made from (TG) Trail Gear, as noted in the first post.;) The 3 outriggers are left unattached to allow for custom fitment to each vehicle. They are actually made for extended cab Toy mini-trucks, IIRC, but happen to fit a cruiser well. Since we're on the subject, you will have to account for the outboard exhaust/cat if it's going on a 62.

Thank you for the information. I looked up TG and it seems like a good deal. Did you pay under 200.00? I thought that sliders were more money than that. Can I install them without cutting through the pinch weld?

exactly.

and as far as the cat goes for a 62 i suggest goin to an exhaust shop and lettin them re rout the pipes for ya. it isnt hard for em to do and isnt that expensive. even if you dont have sliders i still suggest it cause it gets them pipes outta the way when wheelin.

yea i ordered em a few months back and i paid i think 199.99 or something.
the reason they areso cheap is cause they are mass produced most likely by a machine.
and anytime someone hand makes something they will be more expensive, or someone makes some 1 off sliders from scratch they will be more cause you are of course paying for theyre time.

yes you can install them w/o cuttin the rocker.

i cut mine to get the tubes and sliders up higher for better ground clearance. you can do what you want to on yours, you dont have to cut anything if you dont want.

leaving for roundup today so we will see how strong these things are and how much touch up paint i need to get:steer::steer:

Stickers

Those look like the same sliders I have... very similar. I like the tucked in design. :princess: hates it (she wants more of a "step").

P.s Great looking welds for flux.

Do I see a Bing and a Weber sticker.....?

sorry i missed this till now.

Thank you very much for the compliment. I like th picture of your rig, looks clean

To add even more to this for northwest's sake, also know that you don't even have to weld the legs aka outriggers to the frame at all. A few stout plates and u-bolts to sandwich the frame are proven to hold adequately. It boils down to mostly personal preference of welding vs not welding. I personally cut much of my rockers out, and now have an extra 3" of clearance. of which the slider will only take up roughly 2" of.

That is good news. That will be my plan of attack then. I really like the extra protection and yes my wife would like a little help getting in also.

Wifes killing me for a step....I was just about to pull the trigger on the trail-gear until I read your bride would like more of a step....Is it awkward using it as a step for the bride or little ones (which i also need a step for)?........

even with mine tucked up pretty good they still make a good step, it they were laid out more then they would be even better.

oh and as for the sturdyness of these things... at round up in cam down on the passenger side only with the full weight of my truck and all it did was scratch some grooves into them and take off paint. no dents!

"all of my welds were done using flux core wire which i am finally out of so now i have an excuse to buy a bottle and some solid wire for much cleaner prettier beads."

Unsolicited advice:
You may want to keep on with the flux core wire on welds that ought be strongest like that of sliders, especially if you are using a small 110 0r 240v Lincoln/ Miller welder. Your penetration will be deeper and welds stronger. Save the bottle gas-shielded welds for sheet metal repair or more delicate work. BTW, nice rear bumper.

holy thread revival batman!

well it still has flux core in it cause it is cheaper, but the welder im using has plenty enough juice for 5/8" so im not worried with 1/4 and 3/8 stuff like sliders and stuff are. that said ive never had any problems with getting penetration with anything ive welded with this welder.
