Squeaky steering wheel wasn't clock spring (1 Viewer)

I'm going to try this fix this weekend. Contrary to what I wrote above, mine only squeaks on left turns. Drives me nuts.

I finally got around to spraying some silicone lubricant up into my steering shaft bushing and no squeak!! It even feels smoother, but that is probably my imagination.

It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Couldn’t be more grateful for this thread!
Was afraid I’d end up purchasing a new clock spring to sort out the squeak, read this, shot some WD-40 Dry Lube into the bushing area, and presto: Problem solved!

My wheel rubs the plastic column housing, mainly when it's cold...

Holy squeaky wheel never thought I’d get this many posts I’m gonna try it I sure hope it works and mine squeaks mostly on the left turns as well.
Thanks Atoyot1031

Went out and did mine, squeak gone in less then a minute

My left turn squeak gone. Had the clam-shell off for the past week trying to find the source. THANKS!

After 10 years of ownership my occasional squeak suddenly became constant.

I did this fix last weekend and now it's gone!

I was just going to post about it, and like magic, this thread resurfaces! MUD is awesome.

I'm not sure how you guys are seeing the actual bushing area pictured earlier. I even went so far as to take off the lower dash plastic and steering wheel column covers and all I can see is the actual shaft is covered in steel where I can't see any moving parts.

So I positioned myself awkwardly in the footwell, below the steering column and couldn't see sht. The brake pedal gets in the way of getting an angle up into the shaft. I just prayed and sprayed the teflon lube with the needle hose up the steering shaft by feel. Hoping this does the trick.

I had my head in the foot well like you said next to brake pedal could not see sh**t. So I pointed the can of T1 strait up the steering shaft and sprayed. Worked like a charm.

So happy this thread got bumped up! Like others I've been listening to the squeaky steering wheel for quite some time, but it only happens during the winter when it's colder out. Sprayed the location mentioned and no more squeak!

OK, I'm not one to jump on a bandwagon, but the cold weather groan started to bother me. Coincidentally, ONLY after I started reading this thread.
I ordered a can of
Amazon product ASIN B000GL19TY
and removed the lower dash panel along with the testicle vent connecting tube.
I was able to hit the trouble spot without issue, and I'm happy to report that the squeak/groan is now gone. There is also a noticeable decrease in steering effort.
I say "hooray".

Confirming same results this am drive although I didn’t have to remove anything to hit this blind spot up the steering shaft.

Slightly lighter steering effort. No random squeaks on lefts.
