Can't you just change the rod length??

To a point you can. I've played with rod lengths on the slave and at the pedal, but still not enough volume. The new brake master should solve this. If the slave rod gets too long the TOB won't have enough play and put pressure on the clutch wearing it out faster. With this new master I can run a shorter rod with the right free play and still get enough push to work the clutch.

You also mentioned a diesel heater 😉👍🤓🤔 is there an engine Swap in the future??

No, just a small diesel fired heater. J Mack does run one and taps into his main fuel tank. They make a gasoline heater, but it clogs with soot quicker than the diesel. I'll mount a small tank just for the heater, I like to be toasty in the sack. :)

Put a deer I shot in the back of my 4Runner years ago and decided to leave it there until after dinner. Managed to fill that cavity with blood. Lesson learned.

I did that once and did not realize it until summer.

Basically had to sell it

I'm getting ready to make drawers in back and had to move the spare over closer to the window. So, I rebuilt the tire carrier with the idea I could roll the tire out the driver's back door instead of lifting it over the drawers. Play time really....

In case you're thinking why would a guy put a speaker behind the spare, it's just a speaker grill to let air circulate in the body and dry out any moisture. Yeah, I know it didn't work on 6 inches of water. :) I had the bright idea to use old wheel studs on the top tire holder in order to carry a couple of spare lug nuts, but that opened up another problem of spacers. You can see the big flat washers I used and didn't like, so I got to play with the lathe. I've got a long way to go learning the lathe, but these spacers turned out nice. That's it for pictures.

Yeah, me too. This go round is being made of wood, the birch plywood. If it works out right and we like using them I might make number two out of metal. I really want to get set up for tig welding and I thought the drawers would be a good project. I've been dragging my feet on buying a new welder and not knowing if my eyesight is going to hold up.

If you can read paper maps (most of the time) you can probably handle a TIG welder. Teach Jeri as a backstop.

Tig welding is not as hard as most people think! I started out tig welding Aluminum, if you can weld that the rest is easy!

Same here Bob, bulk cement trailers are all aluminum (with the exception of sub-frames sometimes) and had to weld up seam cracks all the time. Nothing show quality, just had to hold 15psi. I loved that setup because they used a thumb control instead of the foot control, made it way easier.

So what's your plan on a hydro-boost brake system?

I have to do something since I can't lock up my tires on a gravel road. Since you have a similar engine configuration, I might let you blaze a trail.

I'm going the stupid route with a new Wilwood master and a new Bosch hydroboost from Hydratech....

Megadoomer has the right idea with parts from the bone yard, same system, just used. Difference between $1000 and $50. He can steer you to what vehicles to look for.

I'm running the PSC power steering pump with reserve.... PK1405H-OR - Remote-Fill Power Steering P Pump and Remote Reservoir Kit for Off-Road Applications (Hydroboost), that has a port for the hydraboost, so no teeing in line and I'm running a power steering cooler up front. I'll post more once I get the parts delivered.

On a side note, while trying to plug the vacuum port on the intake manifold, I broke the little red " lock clip" that holds the plug or vacuum line nipple. Dealer says no can do unless I buy the whole manifold, $800. So, I'll be cementing in the plug and calling it good.

Does this new system hook up to the ports that you had put in your steering box? Or are those ports in your box only for a steering ram?
I have seen a couple rigs without that giant brake booster, and I imagine that that is what hydro brakes are, no?

Those extra holes I put in the steering box are for a ram assist. I'm not using one at this time, but running an in line radiator to cool the fluid.

Yes, the hydroboost system eliminates the vacuum booster and uses the power steering pump to pump fluid to the hydroboost.

Maybe this is a better example of what I'm doing...

Let's talk about engine coolant filters. I've had them on my military trucks, one being a diesel and the other gas. Now that I took out my rear heater and rerouted the heater lines, thought I'd mount a coolant filter somewhere. I noticed brown crap around some of the fittings and figured it wouldn't hurt mounting one in line. Any thoughts good or bad on this?
