I think I would go for more regular changes of the coolant, brake fluid and PS fluid.
I wonder how many of us have changed those every 38,000 miles, that's what my 55 has on it since built. My Power steering system has a reservoir with filter, that gets changed every Winter. Don't forget the hydro. fluid in the clutch system, too. Mine had sediment on the bottom of it's reservoir.

I keep a log book on all maintenance done on all the farm's equipment, from chain saws to tractors and implements. It gets to be a full time job every Winter.

That’s the official model number for what is referred to as “garden variety” 5.3L Vortec engines. Iron blocks, aluminum heads, came in nearly every GM pickup and SUV from 2000 - 2007.

Too funny! I was thinking to myself, "I don't remember that from chemistry or material science?".

Move to San Diego and you won't have to do any of that because you will never get a winter.

Maybe, but our summers are probably a lot like yours without the humidity and then the rest of the year is pleasant. However today its going 80. Wtf.

I'm getting ready to make drawers in back
I was reading another forum and ran across this guy that made a box for the back of his pickup and it made me think of you. He did a first class job and might give you a few ideas.

Thanks, some good ideas in there. My Father was the wood worker in the family and I could sure use him now, we'd be done already. I keep kicking around how complicated to make this with dove tails, pocket screws, etc. or just glue and screw it together. I need to get liquored up a few more times and get it figured out. :)

We do have a tendency to overthink and over-engineer some of this stuff, don’t we?

Was at this guys shop the other day and I noticed this next level C10 with no break booster, just a wilwood master cylinder. When I questioned him about it he said they do that all the time and that I would be hard pressed to notice a difference in breaking effort if it had been set up correctly.
Are you still thinking hydro boosted breaks?

My brother had a 65 GT Mustang. Fast as hell but manual brakes. No thank you. Not on some of those trails we did in CO.
