Pablo,

No headliner or OEM bows. I treated the top with Lizard Skin and A colored bedliner, so I wouldn't need a headliner. They always tear and discolor, etc. Anyhow, I need to replace the roof supports and decided to make my own.

On the seatbelt mount, I'm using a plate made for that. It will be welded in. I'll fish it up with the wire and weld the holes. If you look at the rear seatbelt mount, it is only spot welded up there. We can do better than that!

Here you go, Pablo.

Welded in three holes, not going anywhere. The painter will make my welds look good.

David,

  • That's the one. I got them through Juliano's hotrod parts. I used the other plate for the bottom retractable.

Pablo,

Drill the holes first and then feed a wire down to the door hinge opening. Ty the plate on and pull up, to the holes. Screw in a bolt to hold it square and weld up the other holes. Do the same type thing for the retractable, on the bottom.

Thanks Bob,

On a mission to get it painted. After the paint job, I'll be calling. We need to think over the door panels.

I appreciate the kind words,

Ron

Good deal! I did that for the bottom of the "B" Pillar to mount the retractable mechanism. Now you have me wondering if I put that in my POTM thread... I'll have to get back to that.

Stoopid! Hot and muggy day in Dittmer, so I'd thought I should cut out the center dash, a week before it gets painted. I know, should of done it two years ago, talk about the last minute.

I do have a plan and it's even scaring me. Going to get the metal shop to bend up one that I can put everything where I want it to be, including the a/c. I was always jealous of the newer ones, that could unbolt and get to the back stuff, now I will be able to. I'm trying to make it look stock as possible, so it won't be just flat.

Okay, that's my story, now go ahead and let it rip!

Bob,

It's yours if wanted. The radio opening has a welded piece in it, but I want to know your idea. :) you always have good ones.

I like it. I've struggled with what to do with the dash. I copied your idea on welding the top seam since I didn't have any dash pad. I can't wait to see the next idea I can copy.

I was going to stay with vacuum shift on the t-case bit at the same time I dislike the dash elements I have to keep for it.

Can't wait!

Ron,
What are you doing with your dash? I'm going to be cutting mine out like you just did, but changing it. Not sure how yet. Wanna fit a large GPS/Ipad somewhere in there....thinking about making a whole new face from Alum and routering some detail in it and gauge spots..maybe some bends. Not sure.
Was that Indiana Jones I saw sitting in your pig??
Pat

Pat,

I'm trying to make it as close to stock as possible. Damn near the same bends, but blank, so I can put all my switches in . The bottom, instead of curving back, will be straight down three inches and hold the a/c vents & knobs. Hopefully it will blend into the gauge plate and glove box door.

I'm also going to install a grab bar, for my Wife. It will bolt in, right at the glove box corners.

Looking like it won't be until next week, before I can get the metal bent.

I'm glad somebody finally recognized the model in my posts! That guy was hard to work with.

Here's what I did for the grab handle. Had to modify the corners somewhat and I was making a new glove box door anyway, so it should work out. Stainless steel to boot. All gets satin black
