You know, the real reason she needs that, is to get in. 5' tall and needs all the help she can get. My driving habits do scare her sometimes. :D

David,

If you put it in the corners, you'll have to cut the glove box corners out, in order to get the bolt through. Not a big deal. If yours doesn't work and you really want one, I have a few extras. They've been laying around for years, hence " Scrapdaddy ". I had to modify a little to fit, but got some nice bonus points from the co-pilot.

Here's the rough draft. You'll get an idea where I'm headed with it. The bottom three inches will house the two AC vents and three control knobs. I want to box in the sides and bottom, so it ties in with the dash.

Side vents are coming along good, not put together, until after paint.

Now I'll need to find a place for the ignition switch.

Bob,

I don't know yet. I liked the idea of having the key where it was, just because. Right when you get all the worms back in the can, Bam! another one opens. This calls for a Bud!

I'll send the old dash up to you, right after I put the holes in the new one. I just want to double check everything.

Been working on the dash, but needed a break, so thought I'd bolt on some fun stuff. Some you may remember I tried to mount the power steering cooler inside the fender vent, but found out it needs to be below the reservoir. So, mounted it down and in front of the ac condenser. They both fit in there pretty nice. Need to run all the lines, but I'm guessing after paint.

Finally got around to gluing the rubber gaskets on the vents. I didn't have any good old ones, so I found this http://www.mcmaster.com/#9679k25/=sa3450 get more than three feet, I found that out.

I know, back to the dash!

Hi Scrapdaddy, firt of all, It is always with a real pleasure that Ifollow the progress of your work, and I am absolutely impressed by the quality of all you do.
The only point I dislike is the glovebox door.
Peronally I like much the style of the original dashboard so perhaps you could have found another place for your wife handle and use the original glovebox door . The daschboard would have been more athentic. just my opinion.
I didnt wish to be unpleasant.
friendly Pascal

sorry for my aproximate english,

sorry for my aproximate english,

Your english is better than some native speakers on here Pascal.

As soon as I read the part about finding somewhere else for your wife to handle I immediately reverted to my high school days when I worked in an auto parts store.

I will not degrade this thread any further...

Well, I'm not sure how to respond to all of this. Should I or not, go there.

Pascal, thanks for following along, it's a long winded build. I knew from the start, mine wasn't going to be stock. Personally, I never liked the crappy padding on the 55s. So, off they went, which leaves it open to start from scratch. As far as my Wife's handle, any other option, would be too short. :)

Quick question for you. What are the dimensions on the condenser that you're using? Is it the one that comes on the FJ40 kits?
