No cruiser stuff because I’m working all weekend, but from home so able to babysit the smoker. First batch: 3 pounds of teriyaki jerky. Next is 4 pounds of jalapeño lime, then 4 pounds of peppered. All 100% organic, cage free, free range, Rocky Mountain Elk. View attachment 3185343

Aaaaaahhhh that’s better. Still sub 30 manifold temps. Nice dense air charge for all that raging horsepower.

What temperature do set the smoker at and for how long? To keep this 40 related I’ll say that I am using your 40 as inspiration for my own 1970. That picture in the snow is postcard worthy

Was 180 for about 4 hours but once pulled and cooled, they were a little dry for my liking. Trying 160 for this batch.

Moving and setting up the new house and shop is settling down. But I keep moving that 8274 winch from bench to bench so got on the bumper today. Not done yet but should be finished by the weekend.
Started with this FJ55 bumper and had it sandblasted.

Had to hammer a couple dents but ended up pretty straight. @mr2m1 cut me out a couple of these winch plates on his plasma table. Anyone nearby get ahold of him and he can cut out your design or his. He powdercoats too.

Welded in the internal support piece, drilled and cut out the winch holes and added the plate.

A coat of rustoleum metallic Satin nickel and ooooooh. It is still below freezing here so a big fire in the shop and a couple heavyweight beers are helping paint dry and keep me warm-ish.

Excellent work on that bumper!

Initial pic. Everything is installed and working with new 1/0 battery and winch cables. Tomorrow we are planning on driving up a VOLCANO!!!!! (Dormant) to get a Christmas tree. I’ll try to get some really good poser shots that will look awesome when taken out of context

I love it. Factory bumper makes it so much better looking than one of the flat jeep style winch front bumpers. I am going to need one of these now haha.

Looks amazing…

Left in the rain, got into heavy, wet snow, but found a tree. Was with 3 newer jeeps. Saw a bunch of other people and a few more jeeps. Everyone we talked to was most interested in the cruiser.

After that Xmas tree trip, it became very apparent a lot of cold air comes in. Decided to address a couple items. First, I readjusted the cowl vent because I stuck a flashlight pointing down into it, closed the vent and looked under the dash and there was a huge gap. Got it snugged you tight so no mate air coming in there when closed. Also a couple missing grommets that were in place, just pushed out of the holes so got them back in.
Next, I took a look at the blower fan. Mine isn’t stock, was replaced long ago with a similar size unit, but I think the squirrel cage fan is a lot smaller than stock. Opening is nearly 5” and the cage in there is only 4-1/8”. I picked up a new fan from Napa I’d read about: 655-1747. I’m going to return it because it seems to only turn about the same rpm as the one in there. I have no way to measure this, just seems about the same. It’s also way louder. It needs modified to fit and my current fan wheel would also need modified to fit it. Didn’t want to go through all that and end up the same. So I took my existing blower motor apart, cleaned it, soldered new wires in and put it back. Blows about the same.

If anyone reads this and knows of a good replacement fan (or has a good stock one), let me know. I found a larger wheel that will fit this motor that I may try.

I am debating AC in the near future and if I can get a hard blowing fan, I think I have an idea for making my own in cab system that will retain the factory heater and look like it was there from Toyota….

Then I started making floor mats with some material I got off Amazon. It’s like horse stall mats but thin, about 3mm I think. Pleased so far. Going to see how it conforms with a heat gun

Fronts in, need to heat gun them all to see how they react; if they’ll conform a little better. They are kind of tacky, almost like silicone, so dust sticks to them like crazy. But if they are like regular stall mats, that will stop soon. Pretty pleased so far.

And somehow, someone flipped this Chevy Colorado (I think) on its side on the inside of a corner next to my house.

Dog in the 6 year olds coat while she hangs out in the shop. Posted in the wdyd thread, but for posterity. (She wore this coat like this for 3 hours until she heard her food bowl getting filled, literally indoors, 70 yards away)
