Hi all, I have a 1979 BJ40 series with a 3B motor. I'm planning to add power steering.

I have looked at electric power steering but I'm interested in knowing if a 70 series steering box and pump would bolt in.

I have read that the 60 series does but I have access to a good priced 70 series system but can't find information on whether it bolts in or not.

Any one tried this or have some knowledge on where to find bolt patterns and dimensions for the 60 and 70 series boxes?

There is a diesel section around here somewhere. And you could ask in the 60 and 70 section too.

Use of the 70-Series P/S seems to be common practice in France. I think it works pretty much like the 60-Series set up.
Driven, years ago, a so equipped/swapped BJ43: impressed!

Thanks for the great pictures of the 70 series power steering upgrade. Would you have any photos of the power steering pump and pulley and how it bolts on?

60 series steering boxes came in two different bolt patterns. Neither bolted into a 40 series. All required custom work on the frame. Possible shock tower being moved. Power steering pumps would be more likely to work using the same engine and nothing interfered in mounting it.

Hi mate,
I will try to upload all the twenty three (23) pics concerning this swap I have in my archive (from an old French source).
Hope it may help...

Great photos @Greek Cruiserhead! Thanks for taking the time to dig these up and post them. I'll have to remember to document my build also and pass on the favour for the next BJ40 conversion.
