When I first bought my rig it came with a 4 inch Spring under lift and 35 inch tires (12.5 inch wide) on some aluminum rims that had been bored out for the FJ40 axle hubs.

The tires were too wide and had bent the tub and were hitting the inner tie rods on full turn to turn steering. So I swapped out the rubber and rims for 33 inch tires and stock steelies:

71 FJ40, 4inch HFS springs, 2 1/2 in shackles, front and rear springs flipped. 35x12.50x15 ProComp Extreme MT's. I did not cut the fenders, its a PO hack job under some flares. They will have to be cut more and TJ flares added. Still being built, but what land Cruiser isn't.

My fenders are trimmed too but here is a pic running 35s with 4" lift, shackle correction up front and either 2" or 2 1/2" lift shackes from Conferr in the rear

He also stated not cut fenders, but sometimes its okay to show other options that the owner might like.

Here's mine, coming off the transport from Oregon.

With 35s, it no fit in the garage, (plus the tires were pretty checked), so later that day, new 33s.
