hey I was wondering what length shocks everyone is using for their 4" lift. I just broke one shock tower and one axle shock mount. got some F250 shock towers coming in the mail. Was planing on going 12 inch in the front and 10 inch in the back but I haven't measured them yet... What's everyone else running??

35, 70series springs, axle, SUA

I really dont know if you can get 70 series stuff there, but they work great...

Recently picked this one up, previous owner said 2.5" lift w/35" MTR's that don't measure 35"s

Trying to decide between staying SUA or going SOA...:hhmm: so I was happy to see this thread.

as I found out yesterday, the bigger tires wheel quite well :steer: :grinpimp:- my 40 came with 33s and that's what I used to run ever since - moved to 315s on Christmas Eve - obviously, the wheel wells are cut (some PO) - fender flares will be installed after new paint on the rear

Is it possible to run 35's with a sua 4 inch lift without cutting the rear quarters and using flares? And not have rubbing? If so, what kind of lift setup would you need to run?

I recently had to install 8" springs to avoid rubbing with the 35s.
Yes there is some trimming in the rear. I think that is unavoidable if you want to wheel it with big tires.

Is the frame height with 35” tires normally at the same level with 4” springs? Sometimes it seems to be about there, sometimes a little higher.

11 years and counting - USA made Hell Creek Suspensions and even though I am from South Africa still happy ...

Both FJ40s with 35x12.5 tires. FJ on the right has a newer 4” HFS suspension and the fronts rub when off-roading. The FJ on the left 4” suspension + 1” body lift the fronts very rarely rub when off-roading. I always wonder what guys are doing to avoid the front fenders from rubbing at all. I am always suspect when people tell me that their front fenders do not rub with 35 tires with only a 4” lift. Perhaps they are not really crawling and running dirt roads.
