You may want to look at the weather for this weekend in New Mexico I'm traveling thru now and they are saying it is going to be rainy snowy cold and windy for most of the state starting on Sunday night into Monday it would be cool to see you going down the road tho on I-40 I'm heading into Oklahoma drive save and have fun

We are trying to keep an eye on the weather and I saw the rain coming, guess we will see how water tight the 40 is.
As far as driving, I have been amazed with how well it drives. Between the front seats getting redone and the new lift and tires, hit is really comfortable. It did make me feel better when talking to Justin at Redline and he commented on what great shape the truck was in, especially all the original bits in the engine compartment. When we hit some of the larger hills, she starts creeping, but on the flats, we cruise along about 65 with the tunes on, haven't even had to use my earbuds yet to block the noise, just a bluetooth speaker on the dash.

When you arrive safely back in Charleston... find a good spot on the deck at Red's Ice House, order a grouper sandwich and bucket of favorite cold beer then begin reading...

Unless they are loose I wouldn't imagine you'll get going fast enough for wind to rip them off.
If your 40 is driving straight at 65 miles an hour without having to turn the steering wheel back and forth to maintain a straight line ....I think your better off than most of us on here.


When my grandfather was alive he would make a joke his truck had 240 air. 2 windows down 40 miles an hour.

I'd think you can have them open at any speed. The only time I've had issues was driving though Shenandoah in the fall and leaves would sometimes blow up in my face from the foot well.

Hey,

Just an FYI that we've been really dry here in the Ozarks and several counties in the western hills (ft smith to LR, except us) have burn bans. Doesn't look like much rain coming so open wood fires will be prohibited in those counties until we get some good rain.

If you're heading over Raton Pass then down US 87 to the Amarillo area you should be able to stay ahead of the storm for the next day or two. Here in north-central New Mexico we don't expect snow until late Sunday. Drive safely!

We lost the seatbelt as a casualty of UV damage over the years.

Drove through the Garden of the Gods which was beautiful.

It is easy to see why people want to live out here with the mountains in the distance tugging on your pant leg like a little kid begging you to explore.

Crossed into New Mexico and grabbing a quick bite, then we head to Branson to pick up the trans america trail.

The welcome sign has both red and green chiles. When you order your Mexican food in these parts more than likely the server will ask you THE ULTIMATE question - "Red, green, or Christmas?"

We took some great backroads to Branson with beautiful scenery. When we got to Branson we asked a nice local girl whose skin indicated an affection for meth where we could fill up before hitting the trail. The closest station was over 20 miles away, and we had two cans on the roof so off we went.

We headed to Guymon for the night, and caught sunset in the rear view on the way. We just sat down to a well deserved Goose Island IPA.
It looks like the weather is going to cut us some slack, give us a chance to get ahead of the rain. We take off tomorrow for Oklahoma City and Stillwater.
