I already have 2.5" suspension lift but would love to get an additional inch on the cheap. I hear good and bad about shackle lifts changing drive angles and such. Is this true even for a 1" lift?

For what ever you extend the shackle eye to eye, you net 1/2 that amount of lift. The more you extend the frt shackles the more you will effect the caster angle in a negative way. You want a positive caster angle to make your 40 drivable . Stk castor angle is 1 degree positive. So its your call. you will probably get away a little longer shackle but at some point your steering will become more and more twitchy.

A shackle reversal could be use in the front. , it give 1.5" more. , and for the rear 5.5" or 6" shackles should make it site level
I have this set up with an OME 2.5” lift. I like it, rides nice on the street and flexes well off road. I’ve seen posts where people don’t like the shackle reversal hanging low (catching rocks)- I might not be wheeling that hard. Only downside is the OP wanted an easy lift, SR isn’t what I’d call easy.

You will need to add shims to adjust your front Axle. Otherwise you will wonder all over the road. See my fun thread on alignment

Do you have a spring lift with stock shackles? That is never a good idea, as the amount of flex in the new springs will far exceed the distance the shackles can rotate.

Just don't do this

Yes, someone actually did all of this :bang: :bang: :bang:

IMO you need added shackle length whenever you add spring height and spring travel, that’s what you actually do with the extended springs. I’m running 4” lift with 1” added length extreme shackles and it’s about perfect. You will need a couple shims in front for proper caster. Always check rear driveshaft angles after changing suspension components. In the past I tried extremely long shackles and it’s an awful idea even though I could use the stock springs.
