Looks like those kits are 2-3 days to ship, and I was out of town over the weekend. I think I'm not going to be able to get one on time for this weekend... I think I've made a decision that I'm going to put straps all over this thing and try to trailer it home with the soft top. Then I'll have time to do the roof right when I get there. But those are awesome links you sent! I just looked at all 3 sites, and that's super cool there are so many great resources our there for parts. Thanks! Can't wait to get this home and get started.

I watched a few youtube videos about the hardtop install, and I'm a bit concerned on what I'm going to find, or not find, when I get there. Everything is buried in the snow. I'm not sure if those windshield brackets are there, or what kind of shape anything's going to be in. Finally made the decision that I"m going to strap everything down super good and go for the tow with the soft top. I'll put straps around the entire vehicle. If I have to, I'll pull over, remove the soft top we'll just go topless ;) Once I get out of the frozen north, and back to a balmy 30+ degrees in Reno, I'll get it into my garage and go from there. That will also give me time to do the install properly with new seals and bolts. So pumped for the trip this weekend!

Hey all - got the cruiser home on Sunday night/Monday AM. Loooong drive from Montana to Reno. I've got an appt at Valley Hybrids on Feb 24th, so trying to scour the threads here and really figure out what I want to do. So much great info here. I've got a long list of items I need to research and make decisions on. First thing is I need to decide if I'm going for an LS swap or keep the 2F and fix it up. It was already changed to 2F by PO. There are so many threads on that already, so I'll just keep reading for now.

I know I will have a lot of questions, and I want to keep everybody in the loop and get your great guidance. Now that I'm going to start the restorations, I guess a new thread should be started?

As far as the thread goes, I think you should keep posting here. It’s part of the amazing tale.

Also, I vote to keep the 2F

I'm with the others, this thread is fine. It completes the story. I've been following since the beginning. It's unreal you found your old 40, then having the owner willing to sell it to you at a reasonable price is amazing. I'd take some time, clean it up and assess what you have, and figure out what you want to do with it. I'm a fan of V8's in a 40, they're a blast. I also appreciate stk 40's, but couldn't own one. I'd probably do a 5 speed, something like a nv4500, and include a robust tcase and go from there.
